Is anyone else getting increasingly annoyed at the fact that half the posts to Genzedong, British Communism, etc are screenshots of anticommunists spouting nonsense? I get that the person posting is communist and they’re calling out those screenshots as BS, so it’s not technically anticommunist propaganda in itself but a showcase of anticommunist propaganda, but it’s still annoying when I’m trying to see communist content in a community marked as “communist content only” and get hit with literal Nazis justifying fascism, especially when there are dedicated communities for all kinds of anticommunist nonsense: ShitLiberalsSay, ShitFascistsSay, ShitAnarchistsSay, etc.

I have a sneaking suspicion that a user is scraping reddit posts to try and ‘seed’ the community. It seems like there’s a real person behind it, but they only check in occasionally given they only have like 20 comments and 3000 posts. I think reposting reddit posts unfiltered is a bit overbearing and floods out active discussion posts. Some of them are great, sure, but most are clickbait. We could stand to dial it back a bit. Just a bit.

I don´t mind the posts that much but I agree with you. I love actual discussion/chatting on here. I also love seeing progress in AES. It’s good to have positive news as well.

Based on the title of the North Korea post at the top right now it seems like they take content from ShitLiberalsSay on Reddit (among other subs) but then don’t actually put it in the SLS community we have on here for some reason

They also take from r/sendinthetanks, I had one of my old posts I made here reposted on lemmygrad as such with the exact same title. Not mad at all btw I’m happy to be scrolling through old reddit posts since I don’t use reddit at all anymore

I mean, everyone takes content from other places. I think the difference is using personal judgement to distinguish what’s going to add something to the discussion. I’m getting kind of tired of the Simpson’s posts at this point. We don’t need more Simpson’s posts unless it’s a real banger.

I know exactly who you’re talking about. One of my posts were stolen and they even used the e x a c t same title I used on reddit smh 😒. I dunno, maybe they’re just not as comfortable with discussing actual theory, but their skimpy comment history is kinda strange.

I agree it’s better to stick that content in these communities you mentioned, as that’s exactly they are for, and that’s exactly the content that it’s expected from them. If we have a specific community for that content, why not put it there, right?

My only knock against this is that Lemmygrad doesn’t feel like it has enough membership to be able to split off in too many different directions. Maybe one dedicated anticommunist sub but not three IMO

I’d imagine they’re roughly the same size, but lemmygrad people are more involved in discussion. Any thread with lemmygrad users in it explodes in comment count.

I think I’m just going off of the OG GenZedong reddit traffic IIRC

Hexbear have a community called the_dunk_tank where posts like these usually go. I think we should have a community like that too if people want to post people being dumb or malicious on social media.

Thanks. Finally someone said it. Since there’s no “lib cringe weekend” rule here it’s “lib cringe everyday” instead. We’re on our own website now, we should put all of that in its own board

/r/GenZedong was a mix of shitposting and serious discussion, I’d say, just concentrated in one subr*ddit because almost all of R*ddit is infested by liberalism. Since Lemmygrad is explicitly for leftists (in practice, seemingly mostly Marxists), it might be better to just categorize the posts into the appropriate communities to facilitate filtering

Thank you for bringing this up, we need to be more strict against low quality post, it’s smothering the community.

A designated page for these posts and strictly enforcing that is the only answer here. I have been coming to this platform less because of it, it’s definitely clouding out the other posts.

Idk I feel like at this point a better move would be applying the subreddit rule of lib cringe weekends so only 2/7 days were SLS style posts allowed. Then maybe once it’s bigger there can be a side community imo it’s too small for that since activity has died down after the sub wasn’t full on banned. I haven’t been on reddit for months but I imagine the sub is fairly active, I haven’t seen any posts on here about it being nuked.

That’s a fair point regarding overall traffic. The weekend idea would probably be a better idea in the process of growth.

Yeah, I used to come here for news and stuff. To see what’s going on from the China side of things and find out what’s really going on outside of reddits MSM bullshit. Lib cringe shits fun and all but there nothing BUT that now and it’s getting old. Make a sub for it. Or a specific day as others have said.

Take a Marxist approach to try to figure out why lemmygrad isn’t as successful as the pre quarantine genzedong sub, well the most obvious reason and perhaps the biggest contributor is the fact that Lemmygrad simply does not have a large enough concurrent user base, most of post here by the same few people who, albeit not desperately, are still trying very hard to keep lemmygrad afloat. Genzedong sub, staying true to the leftist “unity” meme, split into 70 different groups after the quarantine with the 71st group decided they will stay on Reddit anyway. Essentially lemmygrad lacks diversity, with a real concern that it might turn into a echo chamber of political opinion rather than a place of learning and discussion.
