hey guys, perhaps we should question the motives behind these kind of articles. I mean, they’re awfully reminiscent to the kind of propaganda we saw about gadaffi and Sadam.

    “Are you a rape denier???”

Why do I even try with reddit anymore

  • Claim 1: Russia is losing the war
Claim 2: Russia is allocating soldiers and resources to torture civilians for no material gain
Conclusion: yeah, that sounds perfectly reasonable, nothing strange going on here, oh and also never mind the strictly anecdotal evidence, and the actual evidence that exists that Ukrainian soldiers have been doing this for a long time, oops it’s time for my hourly Nazi salute

That’s yet another projection. Ukraine is not exactly winning this war, and even in their darkest days they still used scarce and expensive missiles to terror strikes civilians in Donetsk.

I just had this come up the other day when a few Germans said “the Americans saved us at the end of WWII.” I replied that actually the Soviets did the bulk of the saving, to which everyone had “but the Soviets raped their way to Berlin” on the tip of their tongue ready to go.

Yeah if you’re not German it’s hard to explain how widespread this belief about the “Rape of Berlin” (and East Prussia) is. Everyone knows this and 99.9% accept it as true. It’s just common knowledge here, something entirely uncontentious. It’s not even part of school education, I reckon it just got passed down from the war generation through the generations. Was definitely one of the first things I ever learned about WW2.

Like go on r/germany and try doubting it in any way.

In Poland it’s casually mentioned everywhere where the period is mentioned. Even the pulp romance books are full of it.

It’s 100% purposeful and targeted propaganda, and i bet in Germany it’s the same.

The concept of Soviets and the Red Army in particular raping innocent German women and girls appears to have started during the war as Nazi propaganda. It was just super convenient for the Allies (excl. USSR) to pick up the already ingrained propaganda and run with it when it came time to end the war.

When you dig into it, most anti-communist myths have Nazi origins.

While the particular Berlin stories originated from nazis, entire “bolshevik rape horde” started way before, during revolution and stayed after. Especially polish propganda in 1920+ spreaded it left and right.

I believe that there were also cases of US commanders blaming crimes that their own soldiers committed on “those evil, rape-happy Russians.”

I reckon it’s probably a mix of surviving war time propaganda and panic/rumors that spread during the war. Many people would’ve just believed it, West Germany didn’t do much to combat beliefs like this so it just got passed down through the generations. If you grow up believing this kind of stuff and you’re not particularly politically/historically educated there’s a good chance you’ll just pass it on.

Probably how it happened in my family. Grandparents fled from East Prussia, they’s have heard rumors and propaganda, they told their children, they told me. People around me believed it too, so not much of a reason to doubt it for a long time.

And it’s just projection too, nobody did more rape than Nazi Germany, but America made a good try for #1 on their way through France.

Yeah I think there were 20k reports of rape in France as the US came through. VERY few US soldiers were punished for this while the Soviets seemed willing to execute the war criminals among them.

Since when have soldiers ever needed viagra to get it up for rape? The only thing that makes soldiers harder than rape is killing babies.

Kinda sus the UN is pretending not to know this considering what they get up to in Africa.

Yeah, I always wondered why this propaganda story keeps landing so hard. It’s the equivalent of “US government gives its citizens drugs to make them obnoxiously and stupidly jingoistic on the 4th of July.”

W-H-A-T… Again this shit, why are they so obsessed with all their enemies raping everyone in war while they are the ones doing it.

And please excuse me for my possible dumbassery, but what is viagra exactly?

    • @KommandoGZDOP

I mean the “desecrating our women” thing is one of the oldest war time propaganda tropes (also one of the most common war crimes tbf). With “women’s rights” being the go-to topic to manufacture consent currently this is just in line. It’s not new either. German FM Baerbock told stories on TV how the Russians were raping people “for days” before the referendums. To get them to vote for Russia or whatever.

      what is viagra exactly?

Drug that keeps the peepee hard a long time. You know, so they can rape extra much and long. They said Gaddafi was issuing this to his soldiers too.

For inventing viagra? It was invented by accident and then sold to people with an erectile dysfunction.
Or do you mean how pernicious and infantile the lie is? What stuns me more is that people would take anyone’s word for a story like that.

Viagra also doesn’t just give men instant and persistent erections no matter what lol. That’s not how it works at all, which just makes these recycled UN accusations even more ridiculous. Like, they just expect that people don’t know how viagra works.

I have yet to see anywhere close to an abu ghraib type picture coming out of Russia/ Ukraine. It’s all projection. Always was, always is, always will be.

I think I stopped listening to liberals once they gave George Bush the pass but were concerned about Muslims in China. They are full of shit, there is no point listening to them or assuming they argue in good faith.

Whenever you read things like this, take a step back and think: why?

How does this help Russia in any way with whatever they want? Do you think all army and government officials are sitting a a table, planning strategies and thinking: ‘wait, we forgot the most important thing: the viagra’?

If so, please go outside for a second and touch the grass and come back afterwards.

The only wartime events I can think of off the top of my head that are real life versions of this accusation is the rape of Nanjing and the Mỹ Lai massacre. These atrocities are very well documented and yet they’re never ever talked about like this. I’m not one to instantly dismiss rape/sexual assault allegations but this is way fucking different. Coming from the UN about a war they started; for reasons they’ve admitted to out loud (extracting resources from the global south plus Russia, straight up imperialism); essentially confirms that this is made up.

Westoid projection, they’re trying to smear russian forces as eating babies and bombing weddings, which although isn’t entirely inaccurate (war is fucking horrifying regardless of who is apart of it), it just seems odd to go this cartoonishly evil. also L(MAO) to the fact the only source is a UN Official and nothing else. No images, no captured kits, no witness claims, no internal leaked documents. Basically the NATO RFA.
