I use GNOME with a couple of extensions. I tried a few standalone window managers but I gave up very quickly, I didn’t enjoy the experience of configuring them exactly to my taste.

Two decades before Asperger and Kanner, Sukhareva was researching autism in children. Her contributions were likely not acknowledged because of her Jewish heritage.

lmao, I made this image and posted it to reddit back in 2020, seeing it always gives me proper whiplash

Always been an earthbender even before I knew about metalbending but that made my decision easy (ACAB includes Lin Beifong tho)

Are you using Wayland? What has your experience been like so far?
I took Plasma's Wayland session for a spin a few months back but it had too many small annoyances for me to daily drive so I switched back to X11. However, now I started noticing horrible screen tearing in Flatpak applications and lo and behold, as soon as I switched to Wayland they disappeared. It's really frustrating because most of not all of the little annoyances persist, I had to look up how to run Yakuake under X11 so it wouldn't just appear in the middle of my screen for example, but I'd rather deal with them than with screen tearing so I guess this is my life now. I just wanted to get out my frustrations and also find out if anyone else has had problems. It seems to me Wayland is far from ready for prime time on Plasma.

I’m a man (in public at least lol) and I send hearts to pretty much everyone I consider a friend, of all genders.

I only ever used Bitwarden after I switched from Dashlane and I couldn’t be happier. The Android app is incredible, it’s got a great browser extension and it syncs for free. If you don’t trust them to store your passwords on the cloud I understand that but I wouldn’t know what alternative to recommend.

It’s cliche to answer teacher but I think that’s where my skills would be best utilised. I have a passion for languages but teaching is such an alienating profession under capitalism, I don’t know if I could do it. Otherwise I’d love to do some translating work. But honestly, I would probably be happy doing whatever knowing it would serve the needs of the people at large and not just some fat cat capitalists.

Because it’s an organisation dedicated to upholding capitalist imperialism and thus white supremacy. It was founded to combat communism and took a bunch of Nazis on board for that purpose.

Best way to experience Kingdom Hearts?
Is the PC collection any good or should I stick to emulating?

Are you/is he by any change from what was formerly Bengal? A lot of children were given the name Stalin in honour of the Soviet Union’s support for the region during the Bengal famine.

I’m on the autism spectrum and have noticed I exhibit a few symptoms that are very similar to ADHD symptoms. I’m absolutely terrified of talking to my doctor/psychiatrist/therapist about these for fear that they’ll see those few symptoms and slap me with a diagnosis and I’ll look irrational for not wanting to be put on meds. I’ve seen ADHD meds prescribed to schoolchildren for less. It’s really depressing that it’s seen as something that needs to be “fixed” and “cured” rather than accommodations be made for us but such is the neurodivergent life I guess.

It’s not ideal, yeah. I’ve been able to make do with manually adding covers but it’s a mess…

Openreads is a great way to keep track of what books you’re reading and have read
If you're looking for something like goodreads or bookwyrm but aren't interested in the social features, I can't recommend this enough.

Is there research on how a transition from cars to trains might be achieved? Or any examples?
The cities where I live where obviously designed for cars, are there any proposals on how to transition cities built to favour cars over to other forms of transportation or examples of cities that have done so? I know it's probably possible but my imagination is limited.

Wow, I’ve been meaning to learn git, this is amazing!

What is your attitude towards rewinding, save states etc.
My philosophy is basically that I play these games for fun and so I use and abuse rewinding and save states, but I won't lie and say there aren't some moments where I feel like a lesser gamer because of it.

What shell are y’all using?
I've never tried anything other than the ol' reliable bash (with fancy bash prompt to make it look pretty), because none of the alternatives ever really appealed to me.

I know, I know, it's an article by a lib published in a lib magazine but it's definitely worth a read. The online reactions to the trial are definitely indicative of a cultural backlash to the metoo movement and the effect of the verdict will be victims being more hesitant to come forward.

  1. Celeste
  2. I don’t really know, maybe Sonic 3 & Knuckles or Ms Pacman
  3. Just set up some emulators so mainly GameCube stuff, right now Mario Kart double dash
  4. I acquired Metroid Prime trilogy through very legal methods
  5. I gave up on Hollow Knight at the final boss lmao
  6. Only my laptop, I really want to get a Vita or 3ds and do some hacking
  7. I guess Duke Nukem forever is considered bad but I really enjoyed it for what it was
  8. Chemical Plant Zone

Oh yeah I’m definitely going with KDE, I’m very much not a gnome person, happy to hear it’s been a good experience!

Planning to distrohop to Fedora soon, any tips and/or advice?
I've been using endeavouros for a while now, but want to switch to a point release because I'm not in a position to do massive updates every few days anymore

EndeavourOS with KDE Plasma which has been treating me well but in the future I want to try out Fedora since recently everyone has been racing about it and do a vanilla arch install so I can complete my transition to full blown neckbeard

Also Linus “Tech Tips” ““Sebastian”” Media Group, I just have a soft spot for him.

not embracing computer-assisted economic planning. had they imported the cybersyn team from Chile after the coup and allowed them to revive the experiment, it could have made great advances. this was a few years after the liberal economic reforms of course, so I don’t think the Soviet leadership was all too interested…

How to use touchpad gestures in wayland session?
I've tried installing libinput-gestures-qt, set gestures to plasma default, set the daemon to autostart and restarted the system and three finger swipes do absolutely nothing. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

Our Flag Means Death
That's it, that's the post.

Just finished Tomb Raider 2013 after getting it for dirt cheap on humble, I enjoyed it even playing at 540p which was the only way my laptop could run it. Still playing hollow knight which is kicking my ass but I’m nonetheless enjoying.

I’m not French but he looks to me like the standard “left populist” European politician with all that entails(except very critical of NATO, so that’s good), certainly better than Macron or Le Pen though

I have agreed with Macron far more times than is healthy over this past week, please make it stop

In fact, Rosa Luxemburg made another great point here. Marxism should be treated as a living thing, at its best when it is interacting with the world, but all of the meaningful interactions of the past forty years have been Maoist actions. Marxism-Leninism and the respective, remaining ‘Marxist-Leninist’ organizations and parties have been caught-on-the-back foot, or docile, or lacking in direction, with few consequential actions taken, at best, and useless, irrelevant, if not outright misguided or wrong in many parts of the world at worst.

Marxism-Leninsm-Maoism has yet to produce a successful revolution, unless you are counting Nepal which I know you hate to talk about so let’s discard it. How can you look at what Marxist-Leninist countries have done over the past fifty years and say that Marxism-Leninism has not advanced? It has advanced greatly, but you just dismiss these advances as “revisionism”.

The evidence for the Marxist-Leninist position becoming increasingly correct is a few reddit posts and one excellent Roderic Day article. Lol. A lot of my pro-China comrades hate Duterte and support Maoist revolutions in India and the Philippines, as do I, not even Joma hates China as much as online Maoists do.

This chasing of ideological purity and discarding real-world information is undialectical.

What do communists mean when they say “things of themselves” and “things for themselves”?
I came across this while reading Mao's *On Practice* today: he talks about how at the beginning of the capitalist period the proletariat was a "class of itself" but in the later period of organised resistance against capitalism it became a "class for itself". This rang a vague bell for me, I think I've heard people talk about things of themselves while discussing Hegel before but what precisely does it mean? I have not really studied Hegel beyond the very very surface level so I feel there's some context I am missing here.

I’m looking for an office suite for my phone
I would prefer it to be open source, but at this point that's not a necessity. I need an app that can open word documents, powerpoint presentations and excel spreadsheets (maybe PDFs as well but I could always get a separate app). So far I've tried Openoffice & Libreoffice Document reader from F-droid which worked fine for documents but simply would not load pptx or xlsx files. I've now installed WPS Office from the Play Store but all the conversion options are clogging up the share with.. options every time I want to send a picture. I would appreciate any recommendations at this point.

What book would you recommend to learn bash?
Pretty much just the title.

Is protonmail legit?
Been looking for an alternative to gmail and out of all the ones I've looked at protonmail seems to be the best one.
