They wasted at least $30 bucks on the domain name and host, all to be blocked and removed within 15 minutes.

This could actually be really harmful to Lemmygrad. .com hijacking is a very real thing, because when people hear the name of a website they automatically assume it’s a .com domain. Like, name-they-heard.com is just what they’ll instinctively type into the browser. Tons of websites have been seriously affected by domain flippers buying the .com of their site name and redirect it to porn or shock sites, and basically try to get the website to pay ludicrous amounts of money to buy the .com off them so half their clients aren’t getting porn shoved in their faces.

With this, it might be even more insidious because people who don’t know anything about lemmygrad could see their site, and genuinely assume it’s the real Lemmygrad.

I’m not super concerned, not unless they have some 4D plan to hijack our notoriety.

First things first is that there’s only one lemmygrad, and when people hear lemmygrad they should think lemmygrad.ml. That’s why I’m not even concerned about having to specify lemmygrad.ml, it’s already .ml in everybody’s mind.

Same thing with the search results; we made our notoriety on word of mouth and that’s mostly how people hear about us. They can try and fuck up SEO all they want, it’s not gonna get them far (what would people even search for haha)

The way we get new members is in conversations, where it’s really simple to explain that lemmygrad is .ml and not .com. I’m honestly not worried at all.

Chances are they’re gonna get bored of their dead instance in a few days and will let the VPS expire. Domain names are registered for a year but eh.

It’s more new users I’m worried about. Someone on a communist community goes “hey anyone knows what Lemmygrad is?” without specifying the domain, people could well assume it’s lemmygrad.com, go there, and report back “just checked it out, don’t bother with it, it’s a MAGA site”.

They could also work to boost it in search rankings so that it appears high in the list of results and the legitimate site appears much lower and lends it legitimacy. Admittedly that’s harder to do though and much more costly but it isn’t like we don’t have enemies with a large amount of funds.

True, I’m not too worried tho, because if they did that, they’d get de-listed from search engines, and put themselves at legal risk. The best they could do is to try to out-rank us on SEO, which would take a lot of work on their part. I’m not sure people are finding this site through search engines anyway.

Btw, while “magacommunism” is a strasserist joke, I don’t believe this is done by them. It’s just too simple and naive. Probably made by the same person that tried to ddos us a few times.

Lmao sucks so much that these guys can take such a good concept like uniting the divided working class in America and fucking run it into the ground by using MAGA and alienating the non Trump supporting working class. The dude got less than a quarter of the country to vote for him and I’m sure plenty of them were bourgeois voters. Trump’s campaign spoke/speaks to the conservative owning class/bourgeoisie as well as working.

“MAGA Communism” sounds like some ploy to use the MAGA people to help us establish a better United States, but of course the Republicans hate communism and China, and only sometimes hold more logical foreign policy standpoints to “own the libs”. Also MAGA is another extreme that is bad for the US. This post is a giant mashup of trolling, woooosh, use tiger fight wolf, and shitposting.
