I swear, I’ll be watching a video about Linux, or cooking, or science, or cute animals and BAM! “Why China is the Devil” or “We Should Nuke North Korea” video smack in the middle of the recommendations! I don’t even watch any political stuff on YouTube (because it’s a shitshow), and I have my browser set to auto-delete all of Google’s cookies as soon as the browser is closed. Doesn’t matter if I’m on the actual YouTube website, NewPipe, or Invidious. Prey tell, YouTube, how is “Top 10 Reasons Why China Should Be Mainland Taiwan” at all a related video to “Maintainable Object Oriented Development in PHP, Part 4”? Especially when you somehow always fail to fetch the next part of the series for me?

I keep getting Infographics, Wendover productions, TLDR News Global and others.

Same thing. “China is collapsing” “China has collapsed” “X is happening and will cause China’s total collapse this week” “What happens once Russia’s invasion of Ukraine ends? Putin at international court.”

I just wonder how these people think they will continue once they lose their credibility.

Well, I was a viewer of infographics.
I liked the “Bangladesh central bank heist” story, the Japanese escape artist story
and all the experiments the narrator was doing to himself.
So I care, though they’d already lost me on their version of the Tiananmen square insurrection.

Oh, looks like I get those two mixed up.
It’s been a while ago when I last watched infographics.
Looks like Kento Bento had the better stories.

Wendover is usually fine for content, JT of second thought/the deprogram actually works with Wendover sometimes (doing cinematography I think?)

Could be worse. You could be getting tourist ads for “Israel” like me. I have no idea what to do to stop getting this shit other than using an adblocker which i can’t always use when i’m on mobile.

Yeah. Reddit has also been trying to recommend anarchism subreddits to me for some reason. I have a feeling their recommendation algorithms are specifically tuned to try to make MLs more useful to the bourgeoisie by making them anarchists or libs.

Lol, most leftists are radlibs, that’s why. The algorithm thinks you are one because it doesn’t have a marketing profile for marxists.

I cannot use Slide for Reddit because I exclusively have Linux devices (No Android, iOS, etc.), but I can use old reddit, I forgot about that since new reddit has been all I’ve ever used. The only annoying thing about it is that it still doesn’t handle code block markdown properly and they refuse to fix it.

F-Droid isn’t going to run on Linux. I can use containerization technologies to run Android in Linux using something like Anbox or Waydroid, but that’s a lot of processing power wasted on Reddit, so I don’t particularly want to do that unless I have other uses for Android, which I don’t right now.

I got recommended a video with 2.5k views by “abortion abolitionists” who made the claim that being pro-life is not enough and that they needed holy warriors to go out and physically “stop the murders from taking place”. Disgusting, fascist, terrorist shit. 2,000 views! Why the fuck shove this down my throat youtube?

It’s not just YouTube pushing it, it’s the American public pulling it too. Don’t underestimate the desire for nationalistic propaganda and narcissism. It’s a loop.

Idk, as long as you don’t watch anything political you shouldn’t see that crap. Algorithms of YouTube are forming a very noice tight recommendations bubble for you that is rarely entered by anything else.

Maybe it’s just the Russian thing tho, because our sector of YouTube is kinda low on such crap and those few morons who produce that kind of content are watched by a rather well-defined equally moronic audience who rarely watch anything else, so getting those vids in your algorithms is kinda hard.
