The US is an insincere ally, always has been, always will be. Throughout history the US has always provided aid in such a way that puts their “allies” in a more subservient position, sowing seeds of future crises to take advantage of.

The US also promises to send Abrams tanks (free, I think) to countries that donate Leopards to Ukraine, thus pushing Rheinmetall out of the European arms market and asserting American corporations as the master arms companies of Europe. Very interesting that Scholtz, the big idiot, hasn’t noticed this.

This is pure performance. Ukraine’s not gonna see those tanks before the war ends.

Apparently Russia just told the United States that using depleted uranium shells in the Ukraine will be considered a nuclear attack, equivalent to a “dirty bomb.” Washington may be trying to hedge its bets.

Is it radioactive? I mean, I wouldn’t put it past the gits to use cannon fodder in cancer-inducing machinery, but it would be almost amusing in terms of hypocrisy

Depleted Uranium is known for its density, and it’s not quite as radioactive as U235. Still radioactive, but not “touching it will instantly kill you” sort of radioactive

It’s not as radioactive, but as a heavy metal, it is toxic regardless. It’s known to damage the kidneys, brain, liver, thyroid, and heart, even without any radiation involved.

US military veterans say they’ve developed nasty illnesses from handling the stuff. The US military “investigated,” and found it was totally safe. So you can draw your own conclusions.

Just speculation, but it could be that the armor is safe in the sense if just sitting there it won’t do anything. However when penetrated the DU is obviously going to break out and float around in the air. Before modern tank armor, a hit usually meant death, these days though if your ammo rack doesn’t go kaput you’ll maybe survive. And in doing so, be exposed to the toxic DU particles that just got sprayed everywhere.

Tinfoil hat time: this is a PR move to preemptively counter the news of said tanks getting rekt. Media will be all “Well akschually these aren’t real Abrams, the real Abrams woulda deflected them missiles and loiters and shells riiiight back!”

yea when the news about sending tanks over came out the first thing I thought was that Russia is probably gonna love spamming pictures of destroyed abrams/leopard tanks all over their media lol

I also remember The New Atlas essentially saying that this whole thing was a bluff and really only a means of trying to scare Russia into settling for less out of fear that NATO would be totally committed with masses of equipment(and even possibly manpower). This has… really corroborated that theory.

If i understand this correctly, Germany didn’t want to send tanks until USA promised to do it too, but while Germany will send them asap, USA promised to make new ones but worse and send them in a year (maybe)? Lol

Yes, albeit it’s not uncommon for the US to send only baseline models out. The US is very protective with their weapons. Although don’t be surprised if they are canceled, the Abrams is logistically intensive, and probably would be a net negative to the war effort.

Does this mean they just admitted the expect this war will not be a “decisive” victory and will continue for at least the rest of this year and I to next? So all their articles about Russia being about to loose, they admit, is bullshit. lol
