As expected, there were braindead takes, but they were getting instantly corrected by other commenters.
I was surprised to see so much people defending working class politics on a mainstream sub.
I would’ve never imagined this kind of discourse happening just a few years ago.

There were lots of shit comments (i mean really really shitty takes) there as well, but all in all, it was really refreshing to see many highly upvoted based comments. Also Socrates was cool af for pushing his club to being run democratically (Democracia Corinthiana) in the context of military dicatorship

Futbol is one of the, if not THE, most popular international sport. It’s really not too too surprising that lots of fans in online communities are pro-socialism.

I mean, football has a very proletarian character despite the billions of dollars the clubs make. It’s still the people’s sport. It still has some issues though.

What did surprise me, though, is the big number of Man Utd flairs supporting communist thought. I don’t know why but Manchester United is not the first leftist club that comes to mind for me.

I mean, if there’s football fans that know what a bunch of parasitic owners can do to such a big organization, it’s them lol
I think it was something in the range of 2 billion pounds leeched out of the club over the years

People don’t so easily forget their proletarian roots.

Don’t underestimate northerners. People in the UK might have a brainwashed notion of class these days, but the north still has its historical roots. There are whole communities who still remember that their granddads were worked into an early grave down in the coal pits.

the least fascist Brazilian policeman. I just saw the news that the daughter from this guy was removed from the police for defending Nazism, the fruit doesn’t fall far from the tree.

I’m glad you found some good comments but what I read after that was posted was pure anti-communism. There was a comment equating stalin, mao, and pol pot

lmao, that person was probably the most clueless person in that whole thread, there was so much crap spouted from them

I wish the modern brazilian team was this based. Here in our country I’m seeing more and more people such as football commentarists and fans having based takes.

We need more players being absolute chads like Maradona

Any thread like this on r/soccer is such a shitshow. Can be some good comments but it always boils down to “UK/US oligarch club owner good, Russian/Arab/Chinese oligarch club owner bad”
