This is a hard question because people can have many “favorite” foods depending on what they “feel like” in the moment. As for “least favorite” would that be something that we have eaten and really didn’t like, or something that we have never actually eaten but are so repulsed by that we never even want to try it?

However for the sake of simplicity i will just pick a few that come to mind right off the top of my head.

Favorites: thai coconut curry, kim chi, gyros with zaziki, sarmale (romanian traditional dish)

Least favorites: boiled chicken, oysters/mussels/clams, innards (although tripe soup is ok)

Of course there are things that i would prefer not to eat if there is something better available, or certain foods that i don’t like raw or only in certain dishes but these are what i would call situational…Certain fruits, certain raw vegetables, certain types of meats or fish, etc.

It all depends on the dish. For instance i normally do not like raisins at all but i recently made a middle eastern dish with raisins and it was pretty good. I would have maybe preferred it without raisins but i still cleaned my plate.

In general i am not picky and will eat just about anything if it’s prepared well.

Favorite: I’ve been really coming around hard to hummus lately. I can’t get enough of the stuff; but I’ve always had a bit of a thing for anything that could be smeared over a slab of bread or toast.

Least: It’s a specific type of spinach that the name of escapes me at the moment; but it tastes nothing like the majority of the spinach I’d get out of the grocer, and nothing like collards. I love collards, but whatever variety of spinach it was that I had tasted like what I imagine pissed-in grass to taste like.

Related, there’s this one lettuce that really sucks and tastes nothing like lettuce, but I forget the name of lettuce. Of all the many thousands of edible foods it’s so sad we’re stuck with these few. It’s also sad that burgerland’s food culture is so detached from what’s actually supposed to grow here.

It can be ok in combination with other flavors. But if that’s one of the main and strongest flavors in a salad it’s not very good.

Maybe I should’ve put my arugula take in the “opinions that are controversial in socialist spaces” thread before it was locked.

Hard to say. Favorite might be wild rice soup or egg rolls. Least favorite is anything non-vegan or if that doesn’t count, anything with too many onions and peppers (flavor not spice).

I hope you don’t mind me asking, but have you ever been made fun of for being vegan? (I assume you are, if you’re not srry about that)

Us Muslims are permitted to eat meat but it’s not obligatory so it’s ok for one to become vegan. (Just wanted to share)

Yes I’m vegan. I haven’t been made fun of per se, but there are stupid arguments people make like “you won’t get enough protein,” or “meat just tastes too good I couldn’t give it up” but I’ve found that I’ve had similar pleasure debunking anti-communist arguments as I used to debunking anti-vegan ones. People won’t really bug you if you don’t mention it too much beyond asking for accommodations. A few good talking points when the subject of veganism comes up are: that going vegan is one of the biggest things (mostly western) “middle class” people can individually do to prevent environmental degradation (besides oc, industrial sabotage in Roblox) with the great pollution and waste caused by factory farms; sustainable animal agriculture could never near maintain current consumption levels; it’s less expensive to eat healthily and be vegan than eat healthy and eat meat; and more I could write if you wanted.

I’m a carnist, but I never understood the bullshit excuses other carnists make to justify it. Eating meat and other animal products ultimately comes down to a lack of self control and self discipline and lack of compassion for living things. With this in mind, the burger truly is a fitting symbol for burgerland.

I believe the word you’re looking for is omnivore (I assume you’re not like the liver king or some other meat fanatic). I believe it’s a very similar problem to cars and sugars that meat is. It’s not just self control, there’s a lot of social conditioning involved, but it’s really indicative of the society we live in. Capitalism has brought such a great overproduction of things very beneficial for humans, but because of our means of distribution it’s only profitable to have it in the imperial core. Many live in food deserts where things we’ve had so little of historically like sugar and meat are the only things available leading to vast unhealthy overconsumption, meanwhile there are a great many people that would greatly benefit from these things and are deprived. There are also labor aristocrats that have the option to be healthy, but refuse to because of conditioning to be hedonistic (though such copious amounts can hardly be pleasurable at this point). Same with cars, imperial core people have far too many, but some would be of use in places in the global south. It is also an “individual Liberty” that a privileged few could give up easily and use public transportation or bikes “but that’s too much work.” We really have been well programmed into accepting the status quo.

That’s what I meant. I thought carnist was a catch all term for anyone who eats meat, regardless of whether or not the are omnivorous.

I believe the word you’re looking for is omnivore (I assume you’re not like the liver king or some other meat fanatic)

I could never understand those types. That sounds like eating would become physically painful after awhile.

I think it’s a good rule of thumb that someone’s probably not referring to south east Asia if it’s lower case unless context really points toward it.
