I’m a carnist, but I never understood the bullshit excuses other carnists make to justify it. Eating meat and other animal products ultimately comes down to a lack of self control and self discipline and lack of compassion for living things. With this in mind, the burger truly is a fitting symbol for burgerland.

I believe the word you’re looking for is omnivore (I assume you’re not like the liver king or some other meat fanatic). I believe it’s a very similar problem to cars and sugars that meat is. It’s not just self control, there’s a lot of social conditioning involved, but it’s really indicative of the society we live in. Capitalism has brought such a great overproduction of things very beneficial for humans, but because of our means of distribution it’s only profitable to have it in the imperial core. Many live in food deserts where things we’ve had so little of historically like sugar and meat are the only things available leading to vast unhealthy overconsumption, meanwhile there are a great many people that would greatly benefit from these things and are deprived. There are also labor aristocrats that have the option to be healthy, but refuse to because of conditioning to be hedonistic (though such copious amounts can hardly be pleasurable at this point). Same with cars, imperial core people have far too many, but some would be of use in places in the global south. It is also an “individual Liberty” that a privileged few could give up easily and use public transportation or bikes “but that’s too much work.” We really have been well programmed into accepting the status quo.

That’s what I meant. I thought carnist was a catch all term for anyone who eats meat, regardless of whether or not the are omnivorous.

I could never understand those types. That sounds like eating would become physically painful after awhile.
