How anglos think they’ll act during a food shortage: “My family and I may starve to death, but never, never will I betray the sacred Property Rights on which our great Idea of Liberalism rests.”
How anglos actually act during a food shortage:
I hate how people judge people in hard circumstances. We all do seemingly terrible things when we are pushed to the brink. That’s why I never trust Western media about AES/Global South atrocities, what isn’t completely fabricated is totally understandable considering the situation empires like OURS have put them in.
Me lord deserves my family’s grain! He will put it to good use in ways that a peasant like me wouldn’t be fit to understand!
Your stomach will always be the higher morality

And guess he did wrote in answer? You can’t make this shit up:

all right, make that an express ticket
This gives me bad flashbacks to the Obama years, when every edgy college kid was parroting this kind of stuff (usually with the disclaimer “I’m economically conservative but socially liberal”).
I.e. “I want to murder the poors and homeless with my bare hands for making the mistake of existing, but I’m alright with the gays.”
This is still a massive sentiment in the US and is downright terrifying.
Not just USA. If only it was just USA.
Step 1: Confuse private property with personal property
Libs: “Nah, that take is at least 150 years old, i need something hotter”
Step 2: Confuse private property with bodily autonomy
Libs: “Perfect”
I don’t remember the last time I paid for cat litter, I take a thin taco seasoning packet and put it over the barcode, self checkout and use the scan gun thing and scan it from the bottom of the cart. Been paying $0.86 instead of $20+ makes a huge difference.
Can’t even keep track of how many thousands of $$$ a year I just stuff into my shorts…I always make a joke that I gain 30 pounds everytime I leave a grocery store 😂😂😂 I’m not paying $100 every week just to feed myself.
Watch out, I’m not sure where you are, but look out for cameras thoroughly. Companies have really started cracking down and begun keeping tabs on repeat people that do this and record every act until the offender hits a felony limit that allows them to call the police for Grand Larceny.
Keep yourself safe out there comrade.
assuming it’s from a big chain store, nice
Hella based comrade, shameless plug but I created a shoplifting community on lemmy ml
“With the relatively narrow profit margins in grocery, this amount is huge. To cover losses, grocers need to raise prices, so in the end, we all pay for grocery theft.”
Not at all, you see parallel to the bourgeois’ profit margin is what I like to call the proletarian consumability margin (real wages) which determines when a commodity is affordable or not, and guess what, that also runs with a very slim margin in this economy.
What will actually happen is as follows; As the prices raise higher to compensate for losses via theft, more and more consumers will be priced out of consumption and will then join the thieves, continuing this vicious cycle until a new paradigm in relations between classes is reached in this regard (lower prices, higher wages, increased social programs, increased criminalization of poverty, etc…)
The author seems to live in the past where everyone is a labor aristocrat still. These bandwagoneering arguments that group the workers interests in with the bourgeoisie will no longer resonate the way they once did.
Yeah I’m surprised your quote didn’t identify the fairly obvious positive feedback loop you’re describing.
Selective editing for the purpose of hopium? Or they drink way too much of the koolaid.
The rest of this article is just the author cheerleading the ‘narrative engineers’ (propagandists, state agents) and occasional useful idiot as they do the bourgeois’ bidding. Guess classic media has conceded they are inferior to social media.
“Your brand new anchor man (propagandist) is hands on! You can talk with him directly! And when you call him on his bs he’ll reply to your message, and call you a Russian shill and anti-American for your fair criticism! Subscribe to the content (submit to the propaganda) today!” 🤮🤮🤮
welcome to western media
Remmeber kids, shoplifting is a victimless crime!
Based Klanadians?
very good idea, just don’t get spotted by the workers
This obviously isn’t everywhere but I know several people who either currently or previously work at grocery stores or convenience stores, and they’ve told me straight up they knew people shoplifted and either helped them or didn’t stop them because “they didn’t pay me enough to care”. So that’s a sentiment going around. Never know who follows what though sadly. It likely won’t be reliable until it’s near unison
true, I was thinking more along the lines of a worker spotting you and it being caught by a surveillance camera, so the worker would have to report you or risk losing their job (or worse) for deliberately ignoring it
Yes, some are taking that risk to spite for the bosses. It’s awesome but still too rare.
What’s really messed up is that some retailers – like WalMart – have a corporate policy of ignoring shoplifting by employees, the reasoning being that workers are less likely to report labor law violations if they think the boss has dirt on them.
Yeah I’m not so sure about that for the simple reason they do not need leverage to fire or mistreat an employee. This is only useful for higher-ups as they have more intimate knowledge of the company as well they are more invested in the company and so they are not only needing to be controlled but useful to be controlled instead of simply brushed aside.

seems like we’re pretty far from it so far, unionization continued to decline even throughout the pandemic https://www150.statcan.gc.ca/n1/pub/36-28-0001/2022011/article/00001-eng.htm
How to report shoplifting
Step 1: Notice a fellow working class citizen putting some potatoes in their pocket
Step 2: walk out of the store and mind your own business
Based.
