I had to wrack my brain to think of if Terminator 1 or 2 was better and I might slightly go more for Terminator 2

T2 was my fav as a kid, but for some reason I like T1 a bit better now. Both are phenomenal movies, and different enough that its hard to compare.

The Graduate has been my all-time favourite for years

Pierrot Le Fou and Le Mépris are my favourites from Godard

A Separation (جدایی) by Farhadi is outrageous

La Notte is way too stylish

Fallen Angels is the coolest film ever like literally if any of you like the aesthetic of things like Fight Club then you’ll adore Wong Kar Wai. Funeral Parade of Roses by Matsumoto is a similar feeling in black and white form

Beau Travail is the best analysis of military masculinity in cinema

Jeanne Dielman, 23 Quai du Commerce 1080 Bruxelles shows how the woman is marginalised and kept homebound in capitalist society.

may as well throw in 8 1/2 and La Dolce Vita by Fellini also. The 60s are levels above any era of cinema there’s like 5 60s films in this list lmao

A separation is so good, but I remember it being really sad. Wong Kar Wai rules too.

    Colossus: The Forbin Project

It’s mood is pretty dark for its time and has an excellent musical score. I’ll let you look up a synopsis so as not to spoil it.

    Donnie Darko. Yes, I know.

Promising Young Woman stunned me, I thought it was phenomenal and reminded me of why I love movies. It presents the reality of surviving some very harrowing things in ways I haven’t seen from any other film.

Midsommar tops my horror charts, hands down. Hellraiser is likely my favorite older horror movie (I thought the Hills Have Eyes sucked, I do like Nightmare and Friday the 13th tho).

I’m no true kinophile expert unfortunately, I find it takes quite a bit of energy to watch movies for me at times. I’d love to get more into the art form though.
