It’s been going on in baltics for a while. I wanted to say after their approval into NATO, but apparently it’s been happening even before, just less obvious. Here’s a wiki link, since I’m too lazy to find better sources.

Looking at some of the cope about them not being Nazis from the Wikipedia citations.

No legionnaire has ever been part of the German National Socialist Workers’ Party.

Well then, I guess they simply can’t be nazis.

Thanks for the link. The controversy section is spicy, considering the government does not officially recognise the date but people do.

De nada. Similar parades have been happening in Estonia as well. Media often whitewash it as “parade for [insert country] veterans, who fought for their country in the name of patriotism”. Ignoring or obfuscating who they fought for and who they fought against.

Yes it is way too common a theme in western media at this point, obfuscation of things like conflict of interest. Never before in human history have we needed more critical analysis of news and media we consume, and the information flow is also in excess.

If you’re still on reddit go here, they have plenty posts of how much nazism has spread in today Baltics (and how it used to be different in the past)

Wikipedia, I know, but Latvia was one of the most enthusiastic holocaust participants. They left only ~3k jews alive out of 60k before the nazis came in.

But he is wrong, Latvians are a people and have a right of self determination.

This would still be true if the UN didn’t recognise Latvia, but to say UN recognition doesn’t matter is silly.

Just to make things clear here, nowhere did I say that he’s right or that UN recognition doesn’t matter, or any of the sorts. I’m making fun of how community notes is perfect for hypocritical smug libs who pretend to care about UN recognition all of a sudden, when I’ve seen many of them shitting on the UN not too long ago for not towing the hardcore Zionist line. I probably should’ve included that in my comment.

Actually the dissolution of USSR was illegal since the majority voted for it to be preserved therefore Latvia’s(and the other post Soviet countries) existence alone is illegal so he’s right in a way lmao.

Why not? The Baltics are not real countries. They are oversized NATO bases with occasional SS parades.

There’s been a growing trend in media to question the legitimacy of some of the former soviet republics - usually Ukraine and the baltics. Haven’t heard this language used on the likes of Kazakhstan though. Of course the same media never raises the question of legitimacy of the current Russian Federation, which is also very much not USSR.

      Great-Russian nationalism.

This shit wouldn’t fly in the USSR any more than Latvian SS parades.

The “readers added context” machine is useful for some quips and clapbacks, but its impotence can really be felt here.
