Basically intelligence community speak for it was a failure but we want to portray it like it was a success in the headlines. The missiles are not hypersonic, ergo the test was a failure and they are not comparable to Russian or Chinese hypersonic missiles.
I don’t think its a “stupid” move. Its definitely stupid in our context and with our knowledge, but Empires are rarely stupid or irrational.
I see this as a desperate attempt to provoke China into seeming the aggressor in this situation, which will inspire the entire globe AKA rich white countries into using this as justification to justify war on the Global South,

Fascinating reads. This person has a good finger on the pulse of things and certainly presents an interesting idea that I don’t think I’ve seen anywhere else so far. I’d honestly never considered the false flagging of shooting down a civilian airliner to pin the blame on China, this despite it indeed being something the US has done multiple times and there is evidence they’ve tried to goad others into it on other unsuccessful occasions.
I hope someone in Chinese intelligence has considered this rather odd but deeply plausible possibility.
