There’s a discussion going on on the Dutch football subreddit about a non binary person playing with a women’s team. The team won a match after which their opponent filed a complaint.

I again had some discussion with some nerds who immediately went that trans women should not belong in women’s sport with the standard arguments, you know the drill.

The best were the comments from redditors saying they (the NB person) shouldn’t be allowed because they might feel like an NB, but biologically they are still a man.

Which brings me to the best part: the person was born a female, wanted to transition to male and then found out they were non binary instead. So, there is absolutely no advantage for them. But Redditors won’t even read an article which clearly stated this and instead give their expert advice anyway.

Progressivism has yet to reach the stage were trans men exist within the minds of cis people

I want to dispel a myth here. There is generally no advantage for trans women in almost all sports. If you know trans women you know that almost all of us are not athletic at all. And those of us that are have a significantly lower VO2 max than cis women athletes. When trans women are allowed to compete as women we do not see an unusually high win rate and we usually lose. Trans women were mostly allowed to compete in the Olympics for a while and have never won a medal. The whole notion that trans women have a biological advantage in sports is nothing but absurdity and transmisogyny and does not have any basis in reality. And even if we do win, or even do better than last place, people act as if the sky is falling. It is not the end of the world if a woman wins because she had a biological advantage in the biological advantage measuring contests.

BYD cars are available in Mexico now! It is interesting to see that their cars are way cheaper than Elon’s Teslas.

Saldy, the cheapest model is a bit more expensive than the most basic version of the Nissan Versa 2024($ 314,900). I haven’t checked yet if there are other cheaper cars unless we go for used cars.

Those prices are in MXN. If we were to change the price to USD(using today’s rate 1 MXN = 0.054 USD), the Dolphin Mini EV with the config of 300km will cost 19 495.94 USD(358 800 MXN).

Oh okay. My bad. Before posting the comment I did assume them to be MXN and converted them to my local currency to see how expensive they are. But I miscounted the number of digits and found them to be cheaper than they are which threw me off.

Interesting! Are those prices listed in there within the reach of a normal worker’s salary in your country?

Nah. The median worker cannot afford the cheapest car in India. If you are talking about the middle class then these cars are too expensive for them. For example, the King EV looks a sedan and the price comes out to be about 2,280,000 INR. Affordable sedans here cost much less than 1,000,000 INR. So the EV is on the more expensive side.

One of my dreams is coming true as tomorrow I will buy a van which I will convert to a sleeping area so that I can tour around a bit. The world may be going to shit but I will at least have had some adventure before that.

Well maybe not van as in the kind of vehicle you’d think about when you see these van life people, but it’s a Citroën Berlingo. It has enough space to add a bed and with some thought you can also add storage and a system that can be modified into a bench and a table.

My father in law has one too and despite it not being the biggest van model out there, it is surprisingly spacious and you can comfortably take long trips with it.

          Citroën Berlingo

I’m guessing a 2m length bed would be difficult?

I tried laying down in the back and if I slide the front seats forward it is big enough. You wouldn’t be able to constantly have the bed installed I think but that’s why I will build a convertable setup. That way I have room to sit during the day and at night I can unfold the construction so that it is a bed.

With a smaller van you just have to be creative. My sister in law also has a van but it is one of those moving vans, like a small truck. She can fit an entire kitchen, seating area, bedroom and bathroom in there. I will never get that in a Berlingo but based on the vids on YouTube and the build my father in law has I should be able to manage.

Well one option is talking to people or orgs that seem interesting to you and see how that goes. It’s a bit hard for some but you will most likely meet new people fast.

For some reason, I dreamt about the fact that the descendants of the Nakba’s perpetrators are now fighting with the descendants of the Nakba’s victims. There is something tragically poetic about that.

This is my last week of semester 4! I have two finals, one for history and one for polisci. The history one is a take-home, open book, exam and it lasts two days—I have to write two essays; the polisci one is in-person and on Friday, I have to write two essays for that one too. After this I am free for two months and then back to the grind in September. The professor of my genocide history class from last semester is going to be my prof. for this new class so thats cool… hopefully it goes well 😬

Anyway, I think I’ll try spending July and august reading theory.

There was a post recently also about how Pamphlets was being cringe and was saying some really weird things. I take the same view on them as i do on Redstream: yes they have some bad takes every now and then, and no they are not completely aligned with our views, but they are nonetheless useful as a source of agitprop content. We can take what’s good and discard/criticize the bad.

I love my Keffiyeh, not only for political statements but it’s great headwear for against the sun. But don’t have the courage to wear it casually.
