Even if the Soviets were raping the way the crackers claim they were, it’d really be no different from how sexually predatory Amerikan warfighters have been for the past 50 years. We had to have four sexual assault briefings a year on the joint base I was at, during my infinitely-regretted time in service. Those briefings did fuck all, did nothing about the dozens to hundreds of rapes perpetrated by servicemembers from that base per year.

Did nothing about how servicemen would occasionally just. Disappear from their duty locations, with an NCO (or sometimes the OIC) talking about IG investigations and courtmartials. Did nothing about the women who’d disappear wordlessly, telling no one where they were going, simply escaping.

tl;dr this reeks of settler projection.

IIRC the “Soviets raping women” atrocity propaganda was just Göbbels looking at how the Nazis were behaving and projecting it onto the Soviets.

In reality the Nazis raped (and killed of course) their way nearly to Moscow and then all the way back to Berlin. Compare this to any Soviet rumored to have raped anyone being investigated, and those who were found guilty were dealt with in the way you deal with criminals on the battlefield.

It’s also incredibly interesting, that it’s the Soviets who get the reputation as “rapists,” for coming in to occupy Germany- a nation which had wrought such horrors and blatantly sought to exterminate their peoples. Not the Americans, in their sordid history as the “most warlike nation in the world” as their own former POTUS Jimmy Carter describes it, when they have militarily occupied (and for infinitely worse, wholly unjustifiable reasons) countless nations before and since. Not the British, French, Dutch, Belgians, and other nations who after WW2, went on to rape their way through the world in literally dozens of various colonial conflicts, from Indonesia to Vietnam, to Kenya and Algeria, and so on… not the settler-colonial states like Canada and Australia which continued on with blatant policies of indigenous child theft (with plenty of documented rape) and whose policies effectively continue when one looks at the statistics of systemic discrimination and abuse to this day.

Which country in ww2, when reports of SA/R were coming to the attention of their military command structure, put out a general order that these reports must be investigated and dealt with and the perpetrators facing the death penalty should they be found guilty - while also including a specific clause explicitly stating that perpetrators found mid-act are to be immediately put to death on the spot like rabid dogs?

While it was still was inefficient as an impromptu order during the liberation of Germany, it still happened and is to my knowledge the only order given to curtail SA/R crimes in WW2. The Axis reveled in crimes against humanity, and the Western Allies didn’t really give a shit and relied on the morality of their soldiers to curtail their excesses.

      It’s actually very easy:
The soviets were bad for raping everybody they came across.
The soviets were bad for murdering anybody caught raping.

I think “Insert :parenti: here” fits?

          The quote

In the United States, for over a hundred years, the ruling interests tirelessly propagated anticommunism among the populace, until it became more like a religious orthodoxy than a political analysis. During the Cold War, the anticommunist ideological framework could transform any data about existing communist societies into hostile evidence. If the Soviets refused to negotiate a point, they were intransigent and belligerent; if they appeared willing to make concessions, this was but a skillful ploy to put us off our guard. By opposing arms limitations, they would have demonstrated their aggressive intent; but when in fact they supported most armament treaties, it was because they were mendacious and manipulative. If the churches in the USSR were empty, this demonstrated that religion was suppressed; but if the churches were full, this meant the people were rejecting the regime’s atheistic ideology. If the workers went on strike (as happened on infrequent occasions), this was evidence of their alienation from the collectivist system; if they didn’t go on strike, this was because they were intimidated and lacked freedom. A scarcity of consumer goods demonstrated the failure of the economic system; an improvement in consumer supplies meant only that the leaders were attempting to placate a restive population and so maintain a firmer hold over them. If communists in the United States played an important role struggling for the rights of workers, the poor, African-Americans, women, and others, this was only their guileful way of gathering support among disfranchised groups and gaining power for themselves. How one gained power by fighting for the rights of powerless groups was never explained. What we are dealing with is a nonfalsifiable orthodoxy, so assiduously marketed by the ruling interests that it affected people across the entire political spectrum.

It is a bit like the image of Sweden as the rape capital of the world, when it was mostly due to that marital rape was a) a concept and b) each case during a marriage was counted separately instead of as one long case.

One of the few things they did investigate? That time American soldiers merked a bunch of SS officers at Dachau.

It’s the typical “asiatic rapehorde” propaganda and worth as much, and in Poland it’s pushed hard.

I hate this topic because no matter which way you go you look like you’re defending nazis or defending rape. That being said, I can’t think of a better way to denigrate the defeat of the Nazis than doing nothing but talking about all those rapes the Soviets must’ve did. If someone actively wants to move the topic of the Battle of Berlin back to sexual violence, it’s very clear they’re mad about who won.

On the upside, this is a really easy way to tell leftist critique of the USSR from liberal critique:

When a leftist criticises and action of the USSR, they’ll point to a specific policy, how it was mishandled, and then typically give their opinion on what should’ve been done.

When a liberal criticises the USSR they immediately transform into Goebbels and start frothing at the mouth about Asiatic hordes preying on white women.

The problem here is not that rapes happened, those sadly happens every single time when armies are on the march. Problem is that they claim that Red Army raped millions of women, they did it constantly everywhere they go, even to people they liberated, and never punished if not ordered soldiers to do so, basically an orc rape horde, carricatural even for the standards of orc rape hordes which was originally 80’s fantasy trope and a very badly recieved one considered how fast it fell out of usage. They also of course add murder and looting on a carricatural scale.

(I can’t remember if it was hundreds or thousands)

Where the hell did you get “hundreds of thousands” do you think that would be even possible?

  • It seems to me that making people take up arms and kill people they don’t know for their alleged political beliefs erases or at least heavily amends people’s moral structures. Then there are those eager to do so under the guise of ‘nationalism’…
