When she told the cops about this and pointed to his public facebook profile which was mostly about skateboarding, they told her that all of that stuff could have been stolen too so it was impossible to investigate based on the effects left in the car.

American cops don’t solve crimes they just protect rich people’s property and shoot innocent people.

It’s truly absurd. People who are actually getting consistent raises are often only getting 2-3% raises. Meanwhile rent is going up 5-20% a year and food prices are up (according to the sources I’m seeing when googling, honestly it feels worse than this to me) like 25% since 2020 which is an average of over 5% increase a year.

With consistent raises my real income is consistently lower every year. I’d like an economist to explain why I should be happy about that.

There’s this web serial author I like and I remember reading a chapter of one of his stories and realizing that the voices of several characters who weren’t the super pragmatic tactician overanalyzer main character… Were kind of tactician-y and were overanalyzing things to a high degree.

Unless you’re a pretty good professional writer I think it’d be very hard to give believable speech patterns to a variety of people.

Yeah, I spent most of my career on “improvement plans” for being late to work. Luckily it’s an industry where that’s not uncommon so I was able to do better for a little while and shed the “late guy” persona and got into a salaried (no clock in) role where I come in ahead of my management anyways so I feel pretty comfortable. I do often end up staying late for similar reasons (very poor time management).
