Lithuania just started blockading the Kaliningrad Region, a russian enclave between Lithuania and Poland, citing “EU sanctions”. Now no trains or trucks carrying commercial goods are allowed to go to Kaliningrad Region from Mainland Russia. Russia warned Lithuania of “serious consequences” if they continued this, saying that their response “will have a serious negative impact on the lithuanian people”. Shits getting real.

Libs are gonna be talking soon about “German territorial integrity” and “return of lost provinces to the Fatherland” – despite Germany having said, several times, that they have no interest in getting Kaliningrad back

They tried getting shit back last time, they ended up losing even more territory. Hope they finally learned the lesson after the second time.

Not just getting shit back – which, okay, maybe you can make an argument for – but also grabbing a whole lot of new shit and destabilizing things in the process.

Stalin did say that when germany was just trying to get their territory back, they where just nationalists, but the moment they started imposing the rule on all other european countries, they becamed imperialists, that was the big difference between the USSR and nazi germany during the invasion of Poland, USSR was just recuperating bielorussian and ukranian territory, the nazis wanted to destroy poland and all its inhabitants.

Exactly, people always conveniently forget the whole Polish-Soviet war – and the fact that it’s such a mid-bogglingly stupid episode in Poland’s history makes it difficult to explain to people. “We’ve just gained independence after centuries of foreign occupation; should we build up our economy, or construct some infrastructure, or work on political stability? Nah, let’s get in a war with Russia and try to rebuild the Commonwealth.”

When they do remember it, it’s either “omg glorious winged hussars beating evil Asiatic commies!” or “Poland fighting for independence and restoration of glory”.

It’s time to call NATO’s Article 5 bluff. Russia should send in its trains toward Kaliningrad and send soldiers with them for protection. If Lithuania dares to try anything to stop the convoy Lithuania can be made an example of and the other two Baltic chihuahuas will quickly quiet down. The global south will understand, as what Lithuania doing is an illegal breach of international treaties and Russia has the right to protect its Kalinigrad territory from hostile blockade attempts.

As much as i would love to see the nazi Baltic States bombed off the map, i think this isnt the time to be warmongering. Nuclear war is a serious threat. Russia will surely find a correct response to this, but i think we shouldnt call for war. If the decision has to be made, Russia will make it.

The West is throwing Lithuania at China and Russia and if China has pushed back, Russia will have to too or it wouldn’t make sense to invade Ukraine but let such a pathetic little country blockade you

Yep. China will certainly not mind seeing the Lithuanians get put in their place, they’ve been acting very rudely lately.

All that Russia needs to do is lay out a proper legal case, cross its t’s and dot its i’s to make it rock solid according to intl. law.

The Americans and Europeans will lose their collective minds and there will be talk of NATO intervention, but ultimately the big players who can actually do anything about it will chicken out and it will further undermine NATO unity and expose it for the paper tiger that it is. Poland are the only ones crazy enough to actually try to intervene, and when they do they will get a thorough spanking and be sent running with their tail between their legs back to their own borders. Besides, most of Europe’s military stocks are depleted anyway, all blown up in Ukraine.

Poland was literally runned over by an army of tanks, collapsed on 1 month, trusted the fr*nch to protect their borders (big rookie mistake), now they are wanting to repeat history?

That country has US nukes behind them. That is the main (albeit not sole) reason they act as bold as they do. Methinks it’s intentional too. If you’ll excuse Reddit tier analogy, this is akin to street gangs sending the youngest and scrawniest member to harass a mark, before ganging up on them “in self defense”.

I didn’t mean Afghanistan for the USA. I meant Afghanistan for USSR. In which case manpower doesn’t matter. Just have to keep pumping arms to whichever group of crazies is fighting against Russia. Will it backfire down the line? Very likely. But it can also force Russian government to increase expenditures on security (both at home and on other territories). It’s fairly cost effective, compared to trying for an open war. In fact that is something USian analysts have been accusing Russia of doing a few years ago.

Yeah Americans aren’t going to war against Russia. If it came to war there would be an immediate revolution across the West. Even without war the economy is collapsing and the end is near.

Apologies for late reply (life got in the way). What I think is that some comrades here are beeing too enthusiastic and gleeful about the prospect of Russian Government choosing a forceful (military) approach. Because Lithuania is still very much a NATO member. And I really don’t think it’s as much of a paper tiger as we would have liked. Even if nukes don’t start flying immediately, Lithuania (and other baltic states) quite likely have enough US missiles in them to start shelling Russian north-west - St. Petersburg for example. And even if US military will not intervene directly, NATO has more than enough eager members to do their dirty work for them - Poland for instance.

So if shit hits the fan, and even IF that somehow doesn’t end with total nuclear annihilation of Earth, we’re still facing a lot of grim prospects: more NATO troops and equipment in Europe, devastating conflict in the region and mobilisation of Russian male population.
