EU Foreign Policy chief Josep Borrell believes Tuesday’s damage to the Nord Stream pipelines was deliberate sabotage, and has warned it will be met with a “robust” response.

Reports emerged on Tuesday of explosions from under the Baltic Sea with unusual leaks discovered on the Nord Stream 1 & 2 pipelines.

Danish PM Mette Fredriksen said that authorities insist it was a deliberate act, but added that there was “no information indicating who could be behind it,” despite Polish MEP Radoslaw Sikorski insinuating on Twitter that the US was responsible.

They probably think it’s Russia’s fault and there will be crickets when we find out it was the USA.

I’m getting the feeling that this isn’t going to be an oopsie poopsie western liberal incompetence situation but a deliberate false flag. One of many the US has caused in the lead up to this conflict.

This is meant to be a direct threat to Russia while accusing them of… Destroying their own pipeline? You know the one they get an immense amount of funding from while Europe is in an energy crisis but could just like… Shut off if they wanted for a much more clean and clear political flex if they were really behind this?

All this is an overt attempt at escalation with the US and EU lying to the world’s face confident that no one can call them on it because of how ostricized Russia is to the “global community” i.e. the liberal order they already control with impunity. They can afford to blatantly do this shit even when it’s obvious because theyre convinced no one under their influence can call them on it, and it makes a convenient excuse to blame the coming industrial collapse on Russia this winter. They see the writing on the wall of the blowback from their own actions and are already myth making to make sure every media outlet is prime to label every death or dollar lost from the energy crisis as another form of “Russian aggression.” Y’know, not the result of the collapse of the unipolar imperialist order. THAT would be a bad sign for investors! The ship is still afloat, it’s still a sound vessel, if only RUSSIA would stop trying to pump it full of water!

"Dear Mr. Biden or whoever is in charge – we find these actions slightly objectionable, could you maybe, possibly, not do that next time (if it isn’t too much trouble)?

      Thanks!

      P.S. Send oil, pls"

  • They’re obviously going to blame Russia, which is incredibly stupid. Aside from a false flag attack (which seems extremely unlikely considering the West already blames Russia for everything), I can’t think of a single reason for them to sabotage the pipeline, whereas Amerika benefits greatly from this

Also, the fact that Europe needs Russian gas and can get it right now (well, could) is the biggest card they have (had) to negotiate a de-escalation. By blowing it up, even by blaming someone else, they would only be burning their own bridge and ending any material reason Europe would have to return to peaceful relations with Russia. There’s literally zero benefit from a Russian standpoint to blowing up their own pipeline to Europe. On the other hand, who would benefit materially right away from this without repercussions? The US.

It’s gonna require some olympic-level mental gymnastics to somehow convince people that Russia did it to… own themselves, I guess.

Also the fact, that at the time fucking US ships and helicopters were weirdly moving around the rupture points for some time. Circumstantial evidence points at Muricans.

Retaliation at whom? And how? We know who they’re going to blame, but even if they miraculously come to the conclusion that USA did it - what exactly are they going to do?

So my guess is - they will actively ingnore any evidence to the contrary and blame Russia. And then - idk what. They’re already banning us from entry and send weapons to Ukraine. What’s next? Open war?

They’re already blaming Russia for the energy crisis. Come winter, when people start freezing, they’ll blame Russia even more and I think that’s how the next world war is gonna get started. As bloodthirsty as they are about death in ukraine, it’ll be exponentially higher at seeing death in western europe.

Especially funny if you consider that Poland has been sabotaging nordstream 1 negotiations back then. And sometime in the future we would see how much german money it will take for Poland to overcome its giant russophobia.

Seriously though, mere thought about that will probably cause Germany to fork the cash for repairs of nordstream.

Had I your confidence. Poland has been building up as NATO’s buffer for, what, 30 years? And it’s covered by USA bases and nukes. If this comes to blows, it might end with a crater in place of the planet

During the cold war NATO planned to nuke every transit hub in Poland in case of war with USSR, to isolate the GDR. Which basically means every city 50000+ and many smaller. I’m absolutely convinced this plan is still on the table.

Germany might fork that money anyway. It’s paying Gazprom 40 billion a year till 2030, whether it gets gas or not.
