I’m starting to feel a bit burned out I think. Haven’t had a proper day off since July apart from the odd holiday. I’m starting to feel annoyed by people lol. I take public transport to work and I’m just instantly mad at everyone around me for making noise, being rude, whatever. At work I get confronted with poverty every day and it’s getting harder on my mental wellbeing I feel. I’m annoyed by things the party is doing and in the evenings I don’t have the energy to do anything.

Currently sitting on the train next to two girls being loud and annoying and I have to stop myself from yelling like a Karen I feel.

Also, I have been taking cold showers for like a year now and usually they are fine with a small mental step to take every morning, but the last two days I spend 5 minutes staring at my shower being unable to get into the cold water. I took a warm shower instead. Couldn’t get myself to do it due to stress.

I have a day off this week so maybe it helps.

People are rude, loud and inconsiderate. It’s not normal not to get annoyed by that. I hope you can get some rest still.

I hope you feel better after your day off. You have to think about your own health as well it is difficult to help others if you can’t help yourself. Also whenever I travel to anywhere I always have a headset and listen to music maybe it would help to feel less annoyed by your surroundings

To add onto what Oppo was saying, try getting noise-cancelling headphones or earplugs. They help me so much when taking public transportation.

Honeslty … Just posting arguments aganst them in with my .ml account so they cannont just hide behind blocking all grad accounts is very enlightening, they more or less ignore everything that is being said and keep trying to come up with a reason why it is not valid … never engaging

I do a lot of that with no expectation that I’ll change the particular person’s mind but rather for the larger audience.

It’s true. Arguing with someone whose mind is made up is to show those whose mind isn’t that there is a better, alternative way.

Type “:” and the first few letters and you should see a selection pop up. You can also find it in the “*” category in the emoji picker located above post/comment text areas.

Emojis on lemmy are just markdown links to images, you can use them by typing ![]( <image file> "emoji <name of the emoji>") copy-pasting an image in the text editor should automatically generate the link, you would just have to add what is between quotation marks.

            Exemple:

            ![joever](https://lemmygrad.ml/pictrs/image/8523e574-047f-4619-a240-a147b1d1e81d.png "emoji joever")

            =

            joever

At that point, what’s the difference between posting an emoji and a picture?

Emojis remove the need to upload multiple images to the server, save you a trip to your image folder, and can easily be used inline as if they are part of a sentence. They also give instances their own flavor.

The way it’s used, the way it’s displayed. If you take that all the way all emojis everywhere are pictures. It’s a sociological difference I think.

    Life under capitalism:

For months I had been experiencing some back pain, which gave me stress. I have a mole near the painful spot and had it checked out by a doctor, but he saw no worrying things. I still had back pain, though. Months passed with daily stressful thoughts about what was going on. I worried it may have been cancer (lol) or that I was supposed to get an expensive treatment for whatever issue I was having.

Last week I figured I should just go to a physio because this couldn’t go on any longer. Made an appointment for today. Had some examination. There’s just this one muscle in my back that’s so tense it could’ve very well been made out of steel. Had a massage, some stretch exercises and I feel better. I have some follow up appointments made to keep track of the muscle.

The best part? Apparently health insurance should pay for the majority of it. Here I was stressing for months over what turned out to be something minor all because I was afraid of high medical costs and what not.

the main factor is stress. please do some stretches everyday whenever you get time.

i had similar problems, migraine, eye strain and i got accupuncture. got so much better after that.

I keep struggling with the electoralism that has taken over the party the past few months. I get that elections are coming up and that thy are important but it’s just not what I signed up for. Makes it hard to get motivated.

The frustrating thing is that I have some activism things in mind that we can just roll out with some people which I think would put us on the map in a positive, rebellious way but I feel like my ideas get pushed to the side because everyone is so focussed on elections. And then we do some, in my eyes, cliche petitions kind of things.

I’m so fucking done with fucking redditors and their fucking unfunny jokes and pop culture references. They think they’re comedic geniuses but they’re beating a dead horse into the ground. So many jokes in movies and tv shows get ruined because redditors quote it all the time. I’m Dutch and I’m so tired of seeing that Austin Powers quote everytime my country is brought up. I swear when I saw Star Wars for the first time, I already knew half the dialogue. And when they do try to be funny without using preexisting jokes from media, they’re not funny either. I saw someone make a joke about Steve Irwin’s death.

And my axe! Hello there! Big chungus Keanu Reeves!

Fully agree with you. Reddit people are some of the most unfunny people every. Even worse when you meet some of them in real life and they start making the same movie jokes. One of my friends is like that and even though he is a nice guy I just wish he’d shup up lol.
