Imagine being so blinkered, fettered, and entrenched in one’s reeking supremacy that you think it’s possible to be racist towards a cracker

Systemic racism vs individual racism are different.

If you say that western societies are racist against white people systemically? Nonsense.

Can an individual person or small cliques of minorities hate all white people, sure.

However the scale of power to whine about this as if it is a huge serious problem with society. If someone or a small group are assholes to you, just don’t give a shit.

Alot of these people that whine are really just mad that white people aren’t being the only thing represented in media, which they should just get over it. Take pride in ones self, not one’s race.

It’s not even really of the same scope or scale at all. If a group of people point and laugh at me and call me cracker, that sucks, and it’ll probably ruin my day. but that’s the worst sort of racism I will ever have to experience. Primary school levels of taunting and bullying. That’s nothing.

It’s like if they were both people in an emergency room, the non-white guy is bleeding out on the floor, missing a limb, and the white guy is standing there demanding the doctors treat his stubbed toe before helping the other guy. That’s why we should pay no mind to these “cracker is a racial slur” kinds of overly sensitive white folks. If the worst thing that is happening to them is someone made fun of them on the internet, they lack the perspective to really ever weigh in on the issue and will take up all the air in the room and demand 100% of the attention.

One of the weirdest and most surreal things for me leaving the “new atheist” movement, was realising that a lot of people aren’t atheists just because they don’t believe in any religions, but they are atheists because it makes them feel superior to other people. And those people are the authors of RationalWiki.

but they are atheists because it makes them feel superior to other people.

This also includes being straight up racist, rewatching the videos I used to watch as a teen and I can only think of “yeah this guy hates brown people”

As someone who left religion, I couldn’t help but feel that smugness in my earlier days. The capitalist society encourages one to adopt the sour grapes/JOMO approach.

I understand why you think that, but I think it’s fair to say most atheists aren’t atheist to feel superior. I think many western atheists use atheism to mask their racism though.

Oh yeah, I meant specifically the new atheist movement, which largely morphed into the anti-feminism/anti-sjw stuff around gamergate, most atheists aren’t like that.

This is just a No True Scotsman thing you’re doing. Atheism is a good thing and that “movement” helped a lot of people, particularly in America to overcome the extreme religious oppression that exists in that place.

This isn’t like that at all though? I have met a lot of atheists who are atheists because it makes them feel superior to others, not just due to a lack of faith. I’m not claiming they aren’t “real atheists” or whatever. Just that they’re atheists and smug assholes at the same time. The two are not mutually exclusive at all.

I seek comfort in that while people like this are typing nonsensical garbage on RW, I am out protesting, setting up actions to save public transport, participating in community kitchens etc. Like, if my ideology was so evil why would I bother doing stuff like that. I could just join one of the many far right parties in power and make life a lot easier for myself. But hey, China bad tankie bad 🤷

This was written by Wisconcom if I’m not mistaken. He wanted to make an entire page for it, but got banned because at least they realized he was soapboxing lol

So should it go to “Shit Ultras Say”? I’ve seen non-Wisconcom entities touching that paragraph in the edit history (or “fossil record” as they call it, because theory of evolution good and based hehe)

Nah keep it here now that the thread has started,

They might have been wiscon alts btw editing the page, I’m too lazy and unbothered to go check myself lol. But he does that a lot. I think they also went in and removed some of the soapboxing.
