When so many people think of a real life example of 1984’s Oceania (fuck you anyway, orwell), the most common one is North Korea.
So how could one easily disprove all these claims?

north Koreans would explain they are working in Russia but return to DPRK periodically
That brings back memories of Russian liberal media running stories about “north Korean slave labour in Russia”. With some outlandish claims, like how the workers would bring back random crap back home (candy wrappers for example) because they didn’t have it there. Or that they were organised in groups with some party hardliner acting as an overseer, watching that the workers don’t escape or whatever
Western media trying not to be sensationalist challenge: nightmare.
Many people reported to be executed show up again alive.
But they are dead, they’re just undead because they’re resurrected with Juche necromancy.

There is no real way to “disprove” something, and especially not to the racist and hypocritical standards of capitalist bootlickers and neoliberals. I find that just straight up telling them:
“the only reason you hate North Korea is because you’ve grown up in a racist capitalist society that views non-whites as “others” and you blindly believe everything you read despite all reason, because if you for a second had a shred of doubt that DPRK isn’t an Orwellian 1984 fascist dictatorship, you’d begin to question what other lies and propaganda you’ve been fed since childhood could be false, which will cause a ripple effect as you realize that you have been so utterly brainwashed by capitalist news media that you’ll begin to question your own sanity and white supremacist white man’s burden rhetoric, and you’re too proud and selfish to admit guilt and that you were lied to and work to build a better world than it is to plug your fingers in your ears and write racist blog posts about how North Korea needs to be bombed again to taste freedom and how McDonalds and Ukraine and Pop Music means America is the freest country ever.”
Suggest the documentary where boy boy went to the DPRK for a haircut.
Video is phenomenal, first thing that really opened my eyes to the realities of the DPRK.
A great documentary Called My brothers and sisters in the north

well, i usually try to say something like this:
-about tiranny: "tell me, how is it possible that a ‘cruel dictatorship’ can resist for so long without money or support from the rich? how is it possible that we don’t hear about big revolts and violence in there, giving that people ‘suffer so much’? what’s the secret of the kim family to keep all that people subjected with all those handicaps and pinochet had so much trouble even when US give him money and support?
-about starvation: what did the communist do to ‘starve’ people? could it be that, they’re having troubles because the sanctions, more than anything else? why would you sanction a country with a ‘failed’ economical system? if socialism is so fragile, why the need to sanction those countries?
1984 would never really function in reality. The economy, culture, and society in general would be unable to sustain itself for any significant period of time. Agenda driven world building tends to produce such poorly constructed worlds. They’re built based on the assumptions of an author who willfully wishes never to understand what they are critiquing.
Take the most ridiculous claims and imagine them as true, think of all the societal consequences they would bring about. The mere fact that North Korea exists and continues to exists pretty much disproves them.
When white people think entire potemkin villages have been erected just to woo them I’m not sure how you undo that level of brainworms.
Idk, I’m still undecided and uncertain if North Koreans even have smartphones to begin with.
They do, traded them with Egypt I believe
really? surprised that my country did anything based.
If the Philippines were to be socialist and I were in charge I’d have DPRK as a partner, especially given we Fils have a better starting point than the USSR 100 years ago.
Wait, can I have a pic and some demographics if possible?
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telecommunications_in_North_Korea Surprisingly hard to find sources, this is Wikipedia so take it cum grano salis
I am genuinely surprised at how advanced DPRK went despite being poor,
The power of Socialism :)
