Dropping from 50 million prior to the dissolution of the USSR.

This means over 30 years, it was not 10 million Ukrainians that left the country – it was 20 million.

Absolutely mind-boggling.

Watch this get blamed on either “communism” or “Russian genocide”

They are already counting some people running from the maidan shock therapy as victims of Russia. This war will leave Ukraine in such a mess between emmigration and separatism that they will never count how many exactly people they have and they will count all the difference as “victims of genocide” by Russia.

Btw. This is the very same method anticommunists already successfully use against China, there was 30 million not existing people counted in one botched estimate in 50’s, which was corrected later, but those people are counted as victims of the last famine, and it’s chief reason why the number range is so wildly wide (they also probably counted their neverborn).

      ASB Mil on telegram:

At the beginning of the war, when Ukrainians mobilized, it was revealed by the Ukrainians themselves that their data on their population was vastly inaccurate. The real population prior to the war was around 32-33 million people.

I’m not sure where their source is from but they have generally been reliable.

      Chart using official stats:

So from what I’ve found, excluding Crimea, Sevastopol and the Donbass, the estimated population of Ukraine at the beginning of this year was circa 37 million. I feel like a discrepancy of 4-5 million people is a bit large, though.

Geez, I thought also it was 43 million before war, population will cripple without hope of recovering, first millions who fled because of war, now 4 Oblasts are going into Russia and possibly a lot more after the war, what will be left of Ukrainian population?

Just for comparison, if this exact things happened in Serbia, there would be no one left in country already…
