Half the scientists in some eastern European countries are women

Hmmm. Now why might that be? Could it be because half of people are women? No. Clearly, they were forced into it by the evil commies. /s

Being pressed into a damn well paid job with free high quality housing and easier access to all kinds of recreation is so terrible indeed.

Please, evil red bolsheviks, terrorise me more with this shit.

It’s interesting to me how a lot of these “Look how evil the commies were” articles revolve around these oppresive regimes forcing people to get productive, high paying jobs. I guess in America, the idea of having high standards is just insane.

Reporter: our survey had the conclusion that half the scientists in this country are women.

Editor: sounds good! What’s the reason for that?

Reporter: some politics… implemented… in USSR.

Editor: no no no, this is bad! They was oppressed, of course!

If the USSR is anything like China, I bet they were pressed to pursue STEM, but by their moms who wanted to see their daughters not have to become a housewife or get a traditionally female job, now that the Soviet government dismantled the gender barrier to the more prestigious jobs.
