Today’s discussion questions are…
-
What are you reading in terms of FICTIONAL works?
-
What are you reading in terms of NON-FICTION works?
Bonus question:
Anything you’ve else you’ve been doing aside from reading? 😏

I had a trip to an actual bookstore this week! Picked up three:
The first includes some Gramsci-prompted musing, but it’s quite a departure from MacLeod’s previous works, and I’m not sure I enjoyed it. The second, I’m still working through. The third will go on the cookbook shelf and I’ll try random things from it on occasion.
I also came across - but did not get:
I’m not a fan of memoirs at the best of times, but the subject seemed interesting. Opening the book at a random page, however, revealed that the author’s family had roots in the pre-communist ruling class. I know very little about Albania, so this book would poison the well.
Happy to take suggestions on alternative reading around the subject.
I heard good things about Ken MacLeod. The one who writes for Mint Press News, right? Actually, pretty sure I’ve also read his articles. If he’s the other author that I’m thinking of (a historical fiction one), I think he’s supposed to be up there with Harry Turtledove, though that latter author that I mention does have his detractors, but I do want to get into the historical fiction genre so… EH, we’ll see.
I also know about Noumenon… by name. Don’t know much about that one.
Also, I’m also thinking about cooking more rather than just occasionally!
It’s great! Been thinking of getting myself a cookbook, tbh.
