Have you watched the Rebuild of Evangelion films? I think they’re pretty good

Or maybe just Evangelion if you haven’t seen it already

The Wind Rises is super sus but yes. Studio Ghibli has made some amazing movies.

In addition to my other comment, Cells at Work is very good and actually educational. It’s also almost as if the cells in your body are like little communists all working for the good of the whole of their society, which is your body. And I love it.

It also made me fall in love with lactobacillus and I eat way more fermented foods now and make my own.

The “code black” offshot is kind of fucked up and like some bastardized, hyper sexualized, super violent version of the original but also goes into how bad certain things are for you like smoking and shit. I was already starting to work on a healthier lifestyle before watching that one but it definitely helped my motivation. It’s… a little traumatizing.

Watch Porco Rosso if you hadn’t already. Other Ghibli works are also recommended.

I enjoyed Planetes a lot. Good story with no “fan-service” (at least I don’t remember any)

There’s literally none, it’s an old-school cartoon for adults which takes itself seriously enough. Must watch, one of the few cartoons free of any typical “weeb shit”.

It’s not always a bad idea to watch some of the cringe ones too. Just so you can really get a true and proper hatred for them.

Also Scissors Seven is amazing and also produced in China. Original language in Mandarin. Don’t watch the dub it’s bad.

    Bro you down with mangas?

  • I watched these quite a while back, so there could very well be some liberal bullshit in there, but I remember liking (sorted by from shortest to longest) Inuyashiki, One Punch Man, Parasyte, Kaiji, Monster, Hunter x Hunter, and several of the ones in the other comments

For manga, there are far more if you’re interested

Parasyte made me so fucking sad. Few pieces of media have had that type of impact on me. Take that as you will.

      • Right – I’d add that the Chimera Ant arc of Hunter x Hunter might be a “skip” if you’re not OK with tragedy, and possibly Inuyashiki as well

(Also, the second season of One Punch Man doesn’t look so hot, so maybe just watch the first one)

I love tragedy because my empathy problems don’t let me feel sad when I watch/read something most of the time. Parasyte just hit different when I watched it.

I was like: Oh, no. I’ve miscalculated.

I watched a few clips on youtube and was absolutely disgusted by what I saw. That anime seems nightmare fuel.
