Wouldn’t surprise me if it’s the same State Department bots off Reddit tbh. I’m expecting to wind up banned from there within the month based on how little I’m willing to coddle those settlers’ feelings when I’m talkin my shit-- you can’t expect logic or reason to work on a nazi collaborator, after all.
.world ended up becoming the big general purpose instance that’s the defacto reddit alternative. If the feds are gonna try to weasel into a lemmy instance’s admin team, its the most obvious instance to target.
The question is, once they reddit all over .world and ruin it, what website will they turn to as the reddit alternative alternative?

Ukrainian anticommunists want everybody to believe that the Soviet era was the worst period in all of history and that therefore there is no such thing as a communist Ukrainian. The moderators might have adopted that misconception and assumed that everybody else is just as naïve as they are.

I think there is more to this than just that. Lenins2ndCat is well known for being quite patient and very good at reaching out to libs to educate them. They’re easily a threat to the status quo on world news, as they can successfully educate people and get them to change their mind.

All the World News communities I have seen (minus ours) seem to be desperate to be exactly like /r/worldnews , and that is obviously not a good thing. Take all of the militant counterrevolutionaries like the Whites that the Bolsheviks killed, pretend that they were all (or at least almost all) saints who did nothing other than maybe very calmly and very politely express their disagreements with communism, now put them all in the same basket as the people who died primarily due to the economic conditions, which were largely due to the surrounding capitalist régimes and, to a less extent, Russia’s undevelopment. Finally, add the Tsarist family whose execution Lenin supposedly ordered. There you go, eight million or so casualties. Feel free to inflate the body count to absurdly high numbers like twenty million. (Although be careful not to go too high, like 410,757,864,530, then it’s just obvious that you’re making shit up.)
