This ground of inadmissibility only applies to aliens seeking immigrant status
Still a worrying and tone-deaf development (they should be hunting fascists but we all know why they’re acting friendly towards them).
Communists don’t wanna go to the US anyway.
Communists might wanna go for a variety of reasons (visiting family for example), they just wouldn’t wanna be an immigrant.
~~Doesn’t this contradict that claim? https://uscode.house.gov/view.xhtml?req=granuleid:USC-prelim-title8-section1182&num=0&edition=prelim~~ Nevermind, you’re right
Oh, so this is what they call democracy? If you do not share their “values” you cannot get into their country? Well… It seems we have a lot to learn from the US about tolerance and free thinking…
I get the sentiment but look at it the other way. If we consider socialist countries to be democratic, I doubt we’d allow a fascist (who doesn’t share our values obviously) to migrate either.
Yes but the problem is the US preaches idealist notions of freedom and tolerance of both sides so it’s just another example of their hypocrisy not that we needed any more
I know but the person I replied to seems to take issue with the notion of “excluding someone for wrongthink” in general, regardless of any side.
Huh? Wasn’t this shit always a thing? Haven’t they always asked the “Are you a member of a communist party?” question?
As I understand it they asked that but it wasn’t grounds for immediate denial. It would only result in you being placed on a list and interviewed further on that matter.
