On Oct. 2, USCIS issued policy guidance in the USCIS Policy Manual to address inadmissibility based on membership in or affiliation with the Communist Party or any other totalitarian party.

As I understand it they asked that but it wasn’t grounds for immediate denial. It would only result in you being placed on a list and interviewed further on that matter.
Huh? Wasn’t this shit always a thing? Haven’t they always asked the “Are you a member of a communist party?” question?
