Turkey has blocked the vote for a fast accession of Finland and Sweden to NATO. This will delay the procedure for several months. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Turkey wont allow Finland and Sweden to join NATO unless they extradite several members of the PKK (Kurdistan Workers Party) and YPG (the militias of Rojava in Syria). The west must also lift its arms embargo on Turkey and allow Turkey to freely trade with Russia, including weapons trade (which is why the arms embargo was imposed). Erdogan also said Turkey wont sanction Russia and trade with them will continue as usual. Based.

Croatia also threatening to veto. Both just upping their price I reckon. Still showing the contradictions within NATO and undermining their unity

I mean, for being a NATO member country president, he is quite based. Sure hes a piece of shit conservative islamist who invaded Syria and supported Al Qaeda there and is brutal towards kurds and communists. I agree he sucks. But hes also the only NATO president besides Orban who has an independent foreign policy. He has good relations with Russia and China, and it shows. This is exactly why the US tried to straight up do a military coup against him in 2016 (and failed miserably). Erdogan is very popular in Turkey since hes not a US puppet. Which is why i think that, despite being a piece of shit, hes moderately based.

All in all, a regular piece of shit is almost always preferable to a US puppet.

I was gonna say as long as they don’t support Nazis, it’s worth it, but US puppets almost ALWAYS support Nazis

        Might succeed this time

Afaik it was Putin who called Erdogan and warned him about the coup. So i guess he owes him one.

I guess this is where a reluctant “critical support” suffices

He’s just bargaining. Once they settle on a deal, he’ll do a 180 and wholeheartedly support it

Isn’t he asking for some deals regarding Kurds? And to surrender one of the Kurdish leaders who is now in Sweden/Finland?

The Kurds are one of Europe’s showhorses in the media and against Erdogan. Doing a 180 on their POV would not be great. I wonder if they’d do it just for NATO.

It wouldn’t be great if the audience had an attention span. Or if the media reports it at all. Some under the table deals, media silence and voilà. Sorry if I sound overly pessimistic.

As a part Montenegrin and Serb, I say this: WE ALL COUNT ON YOU TURKEY AND ERDOGAN!

Based! Montenegro and Serbia were the only constituent nations of Yugoslavia that resisted imperialism in the 90s, instead of supporting it. Very based!
