The overwhelming majority of communists would endorse putting this living, breathing irrelevance against the wall.

He’s like an archaeologist who found the Amber Room in his backyard and then calculated how many hookers this could buy him

I’ve literally never heard anything good about him. Most of what I’ve heard is that he was a pedo and rapist. Unless I’m greatly misinformed, I’d be happy to see such things disputed.

          https://espressostalinist.com/2011/11/15/grover-furrs-response-to-mike-elys-charges-against-beria/

I like this article. Beria was likely a victim of a post-mortem slandering beyond even that of Stalin in some ways. However, Beria did brilliant things for the party in the realms of intelligence, international relations, and even human rights. Under Beria, previous NKVD head Yezhov was executed for using torture to extract confessions. There do not exist any primary sources indicating that Beria was a rapist, and the people who knew him who were asked about it said that it was farcical, including his son, who had quite a bit of negative things to say about the USSR in his book Beria, My Father yet never indicated that his father was anything but a loyal and hard-working party functionary. There are no primary sources indicating that it is true that Stalin did not trust Beria, who was executed by Khruschev’s clique for being an “old guard” - a friend to Stalin and Marxism-Leninism, as it were. The sources for every outrageous claim I’ve seen always wind up back at the same places: Montefiore (dumbass anti-communist pop historian who also accused Stalin of being a pedophile, baselessly), an unnamed “Russian source”, or legitimate appeals to hearsay and “popular knowledge”. Just such a joke.

Though I don’t blame you for thinking that way about Beria, for the Khruschevite propaganda that I’m almost certain it all originates from has infected pretty much every ounce of articles or essays one can find on him. So much so that it’s still “popular knowledge” in many communist and leftist circles.

Interesting, looks like even the mass grave found at his house has been disputed as aparently the area used to be owned by the church and they were legit burials.

The disinformation goes so deep, Goebbels would be proud of the likes of Montefiore and Khruschev. Like I said, I hope you don’t feel affronted or anything. It’s a common understanding of the life of Beria, and I’m unfortunately thinking that Beria would/will be way harder to historically rehabilitate than even Stalin. I believed it all too until I read Khruschev Lied by Grover Furr where he mentions Beria sparingly, then looked into it further.

I’ve heard people say that Beria was slandered by Khrushchev after Stalin’s death

One of Stalin’s associates, such as Molotov and Malenkov. He is best known for replacing Yezhov as head of the NKVD, in addition, he also led the evacuation of the USSR industry, led the defense of the Caucasus, and was also involved in the deportation of some Caucasian nations to Central Asia during World War II, after the war he oversaw the USSR atomic project.

He is also known for losing to Khrushchev in the struggle for power after Stalin’s death, accused (by Khrushchev) of working for British intelligence, revisionism, pedophilia, deprived of all awards and shot.
