To be well-adjusted in Western society is to be an individual with no class consciousness or revolutionary capability

Isn’t BRG the one who wrote the article on the shining path that had something like “ackshually, Gonzalo didn’t boil babies, all he did was chuck boiling water at a pregnant woman”?

I don’t think he’s a cult leader. Just an ultra. Maybe you have him confused with the Black Hammer guy?

No, I know him and know people who fled. I don’t want to divulge too much information, but I am not exaggerating when I say they were fearful and left without saying a word to anyone. Winston has utterly deranged beliefs, even if he hides it under the veneer of being a “non-Gonzaloite”. I got sucked into his orbit once some odd years ago, and I’m eternally grateful that I escaped before truly starting a chapter.

if i had a nickel for a maoist forming a cult, i’d have two nickels, which isn’t much but is strange that it happened twice

Funnily enough I’m having trouble knowing what cult in particular you’re talking about. Revcoms are a cult, Black Hammer is a cult, Red Guards are a cult. Black Hammer is weird, though. The leader associated with Winston and allegedly considered themself a black liberationist first and foremost and a communist second, but obviously with Maoist sympathies. To BRG’s credit, he distanced himself from Black Hammer immediately as they devolved into… what they are now.
