Yes, a lot. I lesten to a lot of Dutch rap like Fresku, Hef, SBMG, Broederliefde etc. I also went to the yearly Dutch hiphop festival Woo Hah, which had many international artists (they are sadly taken over by Rolling Loud from this year on). Saw a lot of great artists live, like Travis Scott, Stormzy, Skepta, Asap Mob.

For international hiphop I also listen to French rap like Damso, Niska, Orelsan, Ninho, MHD.

For English rap I’m a bit out of touch with the latest artists but I always listen to Kendrick, Pop Smoke, Wu Tang, Mobb Deep, Biggie, Gang Starr, Nas and many more.

I think that hiphop, for me, is my most listened to music really. Despite being more of a rock fan lol.

What do you think of de Jeugd van Tegenwoordig? They are probably my favorite Dutch HipHop act

I like De Jeugd. They are a sort of party, chill kind of group. Their songs always do great when you are hanging out with people at a party, and they are often really happy and chill. I grew up in a poor part of town with lots of crime and my mother was always scared I’d listen to stuff like Nas and Mobb Deep, but she never made a point of De Jeugd lol.

I listen to a lot of different hip hop; Dead Prez, Eminem, Aesop Rock, immortal technique, atmosphere, and others.

I don’t listen to rap a lot. That being said one of my favourite albums is Illmatic by Nas. I like that it sounds simpler whereas a lot of new music sounds overproduced. Out of the newer stuff, the ones I liked recently was UNLOCKED by Denzel Curry and Kenny Beats, and The Forever Story by JID. Also I think Kendrick Lamar is overrated.

Linkin Park is one of my favourite groups and Mike Shinoda is the rapper so that counts too. Rap fused with rock is something I like a lot but sadly it did not catch on.

Illmatic is great, maybe the best hiphop album of all time. It sucks to say but for that kind of rap, the rawness and street vibe it carries, it’s almost for the better that the artists are at a point in life where they are still struggling. You unfortunately can’t make an album like that when you have already made three big albums and live in a mansion in LA. It’s just a shame that people have to live through hell to be able to make it.

Strangely I think they are in some aspects underrated. “90s kids” would have listened to them a lot but by the time they would come of age Linkin Park were reduced to a meme angsty band. Their favourite work of mine is A Thousand Suns which has very lukewarm ratings if you look here and here. The other favourite of mine by them is REANIMATION which people seem to just not know about. But to most people Linkin Park starts with Hybrid Theory and ends with Meteora.

I mostly like the early stuff, but I include reanimation in that
