Great. Now when police kill you you won’t even know the name of the person who did it because nobody actually pulled the trigger.

Also this proposal violates all 3 laws of robotics. I feel this has several implications especially seeing as it’s a proposal put forward by the police.

Robo police break robot laws? Who are you going to report this to? Robopolice?

I thought those were basically drones, not fully autonomous robots?

There is - the drone operator has to push the button for the drone to kill. They’re the ones pulling the trigger.

Otherwise, faceless murder like this goes back much further. See MOVE bombing for example

Cops always had the “I felt my life was in danger” as an excuse.

But then you get robots… Equiped with guns that have a spread instead of something with tighter precision.

What scenario in law enforcement requires a shotgun robot?

At least with a rifle, I can see them being used MAYBE in a hostage situation where accuracy matters.

How can they spin it as anything BUT just a robot meant to kill? How is it not just a weapon of war?

I guess it could be used against a bear eating someone or a suicide bomber?

“probably needs more attention” is an understatement.

Is there any techniques to deal with these things?

Good start, but what about, you know, the shot gun

Yeah, I mean, killing the thing would be better long term. But I’m sure shooting a killer robocop would qualify as destroying millions of dollars worth of private property in a bourgeois court.

True, but i am picturing how an organized revolutionary force would be able to deal with these, same with those microwave weapons and such. Scary times we are living in.

      Shoot them in the face

Edit: it’s America. Get a gun, kill the robots.
