Benny Morris is an self-admitted Zionist who was in the IDF for 33 years and was present at the Siege of Beirut in an artillery unit. In case of Ukraine war Russia is not deliberately targeting civilians, the military to civilian death ratio being like 40 or 50 to 1 speaks by itself, in this aspect it’s actually one of the most restrained big military operations in entire modern era.
I don’t think it’s the case that Russia is doing a deliberate cultural or ethnic genocide against Ukrainian people themselves. This is a conflict over territory, NATO encirclement, and self-determination for people in the Donbas.
