Tokyo may deploy around 1,000 cruise missiles to the southern Nansei islands in an effort to boost counterattack capabilities against Beijing, Yomiuri reports.

The missiles would be launched by ship or aircraft and would be able to reach the coastlines of both China and North Korea, the outlet claims.

Japan has boosted defense spending amid escalating tensions in the region caused by US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s controversial visit to Taiwan.

I remember Benjamin Norton of Multipolarista said that USA wanted to find an ally in the Far East that could host missiles against China, but at the time, maybe like a month or 2 ago, nobody would host and SK, Japan, India, etc didn’t wanna do anything. I guess Japan wants to play the containment role on China now that Taiwan and the pivot to Asia is starting to heat up. I agree I don’t think they intend on using them, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they started doing military drills eerily close to parts of Korea or China(truth be told I’d have to look more into it to see where those countries have airspace and ADIZ maps, I don’t know how far they can actually do drills)

  • Who’s in control of the missiles, though – Japan or Amerika? If they’re nuclear, China will surely retaliate

(Also: you should probably include the links in these posts, even if they’re from unreliable bourgeois sources)

Apparently planned to finish deploying around 2024. Japan still dreaming about its imperialist days while under the chains of the US lol.

There’s still a few centuries worth of blood debt they owe to the people of Asia.
