Britain’s expected record temperature was broken Tuesday as thermometers pushed 40.2°C (104.4°F) as authorities expect the record to be pushed further.

Meanwhile France’s wine-making Gironde region battles its worst wildfires in over 30 years that have already torn across 19,300 hectares since July 12 forcing 34,000 people to be evacuated as over 2,000 firefighters tackled the infernos.

▪️Spain: over 30 wildfires still burning, 6,000+ evacuated, 70,000+ hectares burned (twice average of last decade), two people dead ▪️Portugal: 1,000 firefighters battling five main wildfires, 50 municipalities affected ▪️Greece: 73 wildfires tackled in 24 hours alone on Monday, “very high” risk remains across country

Completely mental right now. I had airconditioning at work which made it okay-ish but as soon as I went outside I got punched and had trouble breathing. I’ve never felt this heat before, 1 minute outside got me burning.

Covered all the windows in my appartment which means I get to sleep in a nice 32 degrees Celsius bedroom instead of 40.

My evenings are spend at a park behind my house with fountains and little pools, which gets covered by shade in the evening. Other than that I can’t do anything.

Seriously the climate is going wild. Even in Poland which usually have very stable, we now have pretty cool summer with lots of rain, but soon we will probably be absolutely blasted with heatwaves. We also did not had proper snowy winter for years, and last noticeable one was 9 years ago in march of all times.

Oh, same here in Western Russia. I doubt we’ll be having any serious heat because recent summers were slightly colder overall than in the past.

The Chinese are carrying their climate hoax a bit far by using Juche necromancy to cause a heatwave.

/s in case it’s not obvious

Seeing how the only way to tackle this requires a complete overhaul of the system, Europe is kind of screwed, isn’t it?

With the current people in power and with the current media influence, yes.

But there’s always hope. Even in Western Europe, which is seen as a shining beacon of democracy and living standards, shit is hitting the fan right now. Lots of people living here are having trouble buying food, clothes, gas, housing etc and our leaders appear to not want to do anything. The only thing that needs to happen is a strong, unified working class. Over here in Belgium I see a potential for it, but in places like The Netherlands not so much.

It all depends on how our leaders handle it. Will they improve the living standards of their population? Or will they continue to do nothing, forcing people to take matters into their own hand?

Considering last few months, it’s most likely option C: actively work against their own peoples and even their own states to support the crumbling US hegemony.
