The Treaty of Waitangi settlement process (said to have been designed to redress Crown failings to live up to their duties to Māori) completely destroyed the democratic hierarchy of Iwi(tribes) and replaced it with a capitalist business structure creating the beginnings of a comprador bourgeoisie. I imagine similar things happen with settlements in Canada
In Canada, people think that because we recognise the genocide of Indigenous peoples and apologised for it, it means our hands are scrubbed clean of all responsibility for it, and the massive ongoing problems of poverty, suicide, crime, addiction and abuse among Indigenous communities is their own fault, not the fact that they are the victims of a fucking genocide and are still being colonised.
The only thing I’m pointing out to u here is that you forgot Australia (and the UK to an extent, it was a former EU country), otherwise, good meme.
