In Canada, people think that because we recognise the genocide of Indigenous peoples and apologised for it, it means our hands are scrubbed clean of all responsibility for it, and the massive ongoing problems of poverty, suicide, crime, addiction and abuse among Indigenous communities is their own fault, not the fact that they are the victims of a fucking genocide and are still being colonised.
