I’m loving the expansion of the animal nation universe. I wasn’t expecting France to be a chicken 🐔

The rooster was a royalist/christian symbol (the rooster announces the new day and keeps the devil away) but during the french revolution it became a popular symbol of making noise against injustice: you just can’t shut them up.

Still, in this day and age apart from nationalist bigots i don’t know people using this image. Maybe that’s because i hang out in anti-France circles…

I think the original author was making a joke about baguettes being so tough that they can be used as a weapon… hence their tanks firing baguettes lol

No no no not true france gives many weapons (including cyber weapons) to the dictatorships friendly to its regime. It also has special agreements for giving assistance to those regimes in case of popular uprisings, which prompted the government during the arab spring (under Sarkozy) to propose to send the gendarmerie (military police) to Tunisia to support the Ben Ali regime (which was refused by parliament). France also gives plenty of pollution to 3rd world countries and neocolonies and i feel like this should not be forgotten.

So many gifts from such a friendly empire. Please try to be more compassionate next time you talk about french generosity ;) ;)

If I recall correctly, the author’s synopsis of the German cat (both DDR and West Germany) was that it was no longer the tiger from ww2 that was trying to bite everyone but it still retained its abilities to build things.

So here in the cartoon it’s portrayed as a cat that loves to build model tanks in its spare time lol.
