In the not-too-distant future, your internet habits could help determine how much house you can buy

I wanted to buy 1 house, but then I googled “how to join a union” and now I’m only allowed to buy 0.2 house ):

What’s funny is that China’s Social Credit system is mostly fake news, while western credit scores are 100% real and dictate what you can or can not do in life, including acquiring basic necessities such as housing.

But sure bro, it’s China that is 1984.

Housing, health insurance, loans to obtain transportation and education. Whatever fictional system they make up is less scary than real life.

No, unfortunately not. No credit card means you have a bad credit score, not none. And I think other really unrelated things you do can influence your credit score as well.

Can you get me a list?

No. As far as I know, the credit score system in the US is controlled by IIRC exactly three private companies (remember Equifax and their massive data breach, they’re one of those three, still are with zero consequences). And to my knowledge their methods are completely opaque. Neither the complete list of factors nor their weights are known, or, at least they’re not eager to advertise how the scoring system works. I imagine they also change the system occasionally without telling anyone, and the three companies also use slightly different systems from each other.

So you’re just assigned this magic number that is supposed to say how financially competent you are, which many places in the West also uses as literally as a score of how good of a person you are (just like they’re accusing China of).

No credit card means you have a bad credit score, not none

Exactly this. The default is 0, not “null”. Ever wondered why 18 year olds can’t rent a car or an apartment? It’s because they have no credit history so the system assumes they’re just trash.

Everything capitalists accuse communists of doing, they have done themselves. Communism killed 100 million people? Even if that number is real (and it isn’t) capitalism has kill 10x that many people. Communism social credit? No, that’s capitalism. Communism destroys individuality? Capitalism. And so on and so on.

bruh, nobody enjoys credit scores. And they’re only determined by your financial decisions, not everything you do.

Look I am sorry about your girlfriend, but you’re ascribing far too much intent to credit score. It is not evil or designed to punish by some malicious entity that hates poor people. It’s not made to because somebody wants to control behavior or as a justice system. It’s made by financial entities to maximize profit and minimize risk to themselves. Any other aspect you notice is a byproduct.
