A major bridge connecting an interstate between two major American cities near me blew up after a fuel hauler turned over and exploded on it. This happened in 2011.

It just finished reconstruction. It took them 12 years to build a 50 meter bridge.

My city can’t even finish a parking area in time. There’s a sign nearby on a construction site that says: THE WORKS WILL BE FINISHED NOVEMBER 2017.

Not only do they fail to maintain the parking lot, they even fail to maintain a poster telling you they fail to maintain the parking lot. It’s almost poetic

Their ability to marshall and direct change is what offers some hope as the West private-property-rights itself into a unlivable rictus. The last words ever spoken by a Westerner will be “Mine!” while clutching to some scrap of barren hellrock, gifted to him by some generational wealth that hasn’t seen labour in decades.

I wonder: is some of the fearmongering about China projection?

Maybe they asked themselves “What would YOU do with significant top-down control over a major world economy?” and the answer was far darker than “corner the market in fast-growing greentech?”
