Imagine what arguments could be made against the USSR if no one came up with the label authoritarian to equate Nazis and successful Communists, and then wrote articles about it and included a checklist. 🤔

Calling Soviets “nazis”, just that call is not direct, just with extra steps.

Maybe because they all unceremoniously shot themselves or were hung for crimes against humanity that will never be forgotten….

Such a mystery as to why they never got tombs…

As horrible as that is, at the same time I feel like it’s oddly ironic and rightfully disrespectful towards those Nazis as they fought for domination, and are now relegated to a few tombs in a foreign land far from their original home that hates them.

With how he died (Soviet authoritarianism) I don’t think they could entomb Hitler even if they desperately wanted to.

Looking at the last 6000 years or so i would say that entombing leaders was pretty popular in most civilizations.

Reminds of me of that one Egyptian guy on Aljazeera who claimed that ancient Egypt was socdem and that the pyramids were Keynsian job creation projects

I was very surprised to learn that most scholars believe that the pyramids were not built by slaves but by paid laborers.

Yep, I think the “slave labor” thing came from Herodotus, who accepted it uncritically from later Egyptian priests who had something of an ax to gring against the old Pharoahs

I mean ironically I do think the level of veneration past socialist leaders have is harmful (furthers great man theory, etc.), but have they maybe considered that socialists are actually able to build an maintain power and the insane nazis weren’t?
