Like in total lib fashion, they just went with “we should just regulate/control it”.
Also, funny thing is, one of the libs tried to use the “B-but there are some people who wanna gamble with their friends privately! You can’t report them!” like it’s some kind of gotcha. Like, okay? Keep it in yourselves? Just don’t regret or blame anyone but yourself if the friendship ends because you lost a lot of money and they aren’t willing to be cooperative.
Shame I couldn’t wreck some libs without worrying about getting banned for “hostility” or whatever.
This means liberals are getting worse. A normal and acceptable liberal take on gambling used to be that it is just another tax on the desperate poor.
Liberals have gotten worse since quite few years already. The complete abandonement of the anti-war stances seen during the days of the Iraq war is one of the clearest examples of it.
How is that an “acceptable”, even if liberal, take? I see no acceptable excuses for Gambling.

“Acceptable” was probably a poor choice of words there. OP was just saying at an earlier point in time liberals understood gambling was bad and exploitative but have shifted, as expected, to an even less-acceptable take.

My apologies… I wasn’t saying taxing the poor is ok. I was saying that libs understood that gambling is bad because that is a tax on the poor. I could have worded it better.
Citations Needed episode on gambling is pretty good. Relevant especially if you live in the US or Australia. Not sure what the gambling scene is like in Western Europe though I know that sports bookies are ridiculously popular in the UK. Half the teams in the Premier League have online betting sites as their shirt sponsors.

In Poland gambling is a problem, but not an epidemic. Of course as everywhere it’s a problem for the poor.

I had a psych professor in college who spent a good amount of time explaining all the tricks casinos (in person and online) use to keep people gambling and by the end I was utterly disgusted. A truly depraved industry.

For controversy, the Indigenous First Nations in the USA need to participate in the casino industry because they lack career opportunities for ethical jobs. They experience skill drain from the 150 years of savage indoctrination in Indian Residential fake School until 1998, imprisonment in Federal reserves until they surrender both their land ownership and reparation from the child enslavement in fake schools (a reason why the racist white parasites are actively coercing the Native Americans to leave the Native Reserves), and water and food poisoning in the federal reserves which decrease their economic productivity.

Although there are ‘special’ government services to the Indigenous First Nations as compensation for war crimes from the 100 years of child enslavement, torture, and murder in Indian Residential fake Schools that supposedly ended in 1998 (the child enslavement could continute longer), the compensation from government services are inaccessible and not supportive due intentionally designed flawed. The racist white war criminals have the authority on the whole Truth and Reconciliation process to implement reconciliation policies that seem good for the alleged purpose, but the policies failed to achieve the alleged goal in practice and they even worsen repression against First Nation people. In the first place, the Truth and Reconciliation had only apologized for cultural destruction that they confessed to commited since the start of the fake school genocide while hiding the more horrible atrocities in the fake schools, refuse to prosecute the war criminals who created the fake school death camps that became the Nazi dealth camp, use the testimony of the war criminals as the sole source of information about the war crimes, censor the voice of the victims, and put the management of the repraration money under corrupted European immigrants who make the money disappeared. If the truth and reconciliation project failed in any way, they could always put all the blame on the first nation chiefs who never had any power in the project.
