It’s so crazy that the country with more than 700 military bases around the world calls other countries “authoritarian”, like how can they pull off that with a straight face.

Nationalism. Libs often got mad at trump, because he would say the quiet part out loud. They are him, they just didn’t like seeing a mirror.

It’s one of those things that’s so clear as a Marxist but as a lib it seems natural and I never used to question it. I didn’t know exactly how many wars the US was involved in until a few years ago. I knew Iraq, Afghanistan. But I never heard any mentions of US troops in Suriya, Libya Yemen and Somalia! Like that’s a lot of fucking places to be involved in militarily without even caring about PR. I mean Iraq and Afghanistan were always talked about, Suriya was kinda talked about for the 1st 2 months then it tapered off. Somalia, literally never.

It drives me absolutely insane how effective US propaganda still is despite everything. Like, did everyone collectively forget the war that we were just in and why it started? We’ve literally invaded a country for reasons that we admit were fabricatedIN LIVING MEMORY!!

It seems like the state has infinite credibility and it makes me want to bash my head in.

From what I recall, they posted a bigger scale map where it looks like a beeg Russia and some sparse bases in Europe. Plus the usual spiel about them being there “to defend from invasion” and “well those are sovereign countries, they can do what they want”

It thus stands to reason that as Russia is also a sovereign nation, they can do whatever the “civilized Europeans” do elsewhere

wat? the linked image gives the impression that the US is operating out of only one base in Poland, and has no military presence in Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia, among other places. Meanwhile . . .

(That link is from perhaps not the most reliable source, but you can confirm many of these locations with other sources like this one: “As part of the ongoing commitment to its Baltic Allies, the United States will further enhance the continuous and persistent US military presence in Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania,” the embassy said in a press release.)
