New Israeli foreign minister Eli Cohen signaled a policy shift on Ukraine in his 1st speech hinting the new government will take a more pro-Russian line. He said he will speak on Tuesday with Russian FM Lavrov, the first such call since the SMO began. We’ll see where this goes. Even as a Palestine supporter, Israeli politicians are known to be very rational and calculating. I personally think that this latest announcement, if followed through on, could be very significant
I can’t believe this would be anything other than political games, over which country gets more of that US tax money for guns.
Israel already gets billions, so they might be posturing so Ukraine doesn’t get some of their cut.
No way! US is the main reason why Occupied Palestine1 could even exist. I can’t imagine Occupied Palestine to still be a thing once it backstabs its Guardian Demon2; or once its Guardian Demon is long gone.

The thing is, Israel is just about guaranteed money and favor from the US. In that position it makes sense to angle for good deals. They kind of lean towards Russia and this curries some favor with Russia in their corner and then get drawn back by the US stuffing even more money in their pockets in response.
Some of it is keeping their options open but mostly it’s just manipulating the US and racking up free tiny amounts of goodwill with countries outside the NATO sphere. Stuff like selling China US drone secrets is to hedge their bets, because no one including the US can stop them, and to up the ante for the US to try and pay them off even more heavily to sit on their side of the sports arena.
So no. Israel is just playing geopolitical games. There may come a time where they will, if the US ever were to actually grow opposed to their genocide and occupation of Palestine and do something they’d do some punishing things with western secrets being handed over to Russia/China and make a big show of walking over to sit in the Russia/China section permanently. But as long as the US checks still clear in large enough amounts and the US doesn’t undermine their core interests of genociding the Palestinians slowly and stealing their land their visits to the Russia/China fan sections will merely be stopping by to talk or watch for a while on the edge of the seat, just long enough to make the US jealous and worried so that the US has some good treats for them when they get back.
And with European trade still going strong with Russia, when do you think they will start to peel off?

Peel off? With Sweden and Finland all but guaranteed to become NATO members with western Europen countries getting punished for attempting to expand trade with China?
I guess I was imagining some strong man coming into power that would separate themselves from US interests. They can’t deny the inevitable, it’s just about time for Europe to start towards China.

That is impossible. No other country will ever prop them up to the absurd extent that the US does and without external support the Zionist regime can’t survive. They are doing this because they like to play as many sides as they can, and they know the US and Europe will never punish them for it because Israel is the one country for which western support is unconditionally guaranteed, it is too important for Anglo-European imperialism in West Asia.
Ukraine is a failed state and dead weight, its economy is in ruins so it produces nothing that you would want to trade for, and it is extremely pushy diplomatically and constantly demands you send them money and weapons, whereas good relations with Russia have significant value, especially since if those break down there is a good chance that Russia may start being much more active in helping and enabling Syria to defend itself against Israel’s aggression.
So don’t read too much into this. It’s just realpolitik. The US will collapse as a state before it ever cuts its umbilical cord linking it to the Zionist occupier.
To where though? They should know no one will prop them as much as even dying USA will.
