Have any of you watched this docu-series? I was searching for the movie “All Quiet On The Western Front” to add it to my watch list.

When I found it I started to look through the recommended “similar” movies/series offered, and I saw this thumbnail that had a bright red background with a gold leaf crest that reminded me of the Soviet coat of arms.

That plus the title made me suspicious so when I clicked on it to see the description, imagine my non-surprise that communist leaders were mixed in with actual fascists.

I haven’t bothered to watch this six episode documentary due to this stupidly common conflation of Stalin and Hitler. But maybe it’s different? If any of you have watched it, I’d love to know if it’s the same shit as always or actually something refreshing, a bait-and-switch perhaps. I just don’t want to waste my time on bullshit lol

Haven’t watched it, but I remember when it came out and other people did. It’s exactly what you think, just a bunch of anticommunist bullshit equating socialist leaders with fascists.

Are they projecting the brutality of fake residential schools onto Communist regimes with the savagery, cannibalism of family members, and deadly experimentation experimentation on enslaved Indigenous children?

Just reading the review below saying it’s “not droning” is a red flag for liberal propaganda. History is complex because it drowns in epistemological questions. A fun and digestible show only works to prevent people from engaging in actual History.

Right. It’s not “droning” because it has no sources and is based on the lies of pseudo-experts and pop “historians”.

I won’t waste my time with watching this drivel either, but in general Netflix’s documentaries are lacking. I’ve watched a bit of Dirty Money and it’s all the same - an hour discussing the what and maybe the how, exploring how some victims lives were ruined, but never even once asking about motive. The viewer is left to assume that financial crimes of the largest scale are to be expected, that they happen for no reason, and there’s nothing you can really do to prevent them.

I watched the whole series and all I can say is that this just lib shit, they’re really trying their best to make Stalin or Gaddafi look like cartoonishly evil dictators. In the Episode of Stalin for example, they’ve talked about how that journalist, who more or less debunked this Holodomor bs, lied with no explanation whatsoever.
