link one song you’d like to share with everyone and give an explanation of why you enjoy it. explanation can be simple or complex, doesn’t matter
i’ll start: my song is the tom and jerry show by hiromi uehara. here is a longer version with a beautiful melodic section in the middle
basically i like it because it’s completely badass haha. extremely virtuosic, in a way that you don’t really see in contemporary (and tonal) solo piano pieces anymore. it’s also incredibly fun and you can tell how into it she is in the first recording. that’s always what’s most impressive to me, when people make slight mistakes but are so in the zone that no one notices and the whole experience is unchanged. the jazz harmonies and rhythms in the melodic section of the second version are just so juicy too.
After Dark by Mr Kitty I could honestly listen to this for hours and not get bored

Can’t decide for one so I’ll share 2 Lamborghini by KSI because it’s a bop and it has a very deep meaning and understandable lyrics.
And old Yugoslav song turio ljubiša pivo da se ladi by Rokeri s Moravu because it’s a timeless classic.
As for music, basically everything composed by John Williams and Hans Zimmer.

The point of the song is that Ljubiša put the beer in fridge to become cold, that’s it literally. Yes, it’s humorous, the band is famous for songs like this one.

I’ve always loved Regina Spektor. Small Bill$ was the most enchanting thing I’ve ever heard when I first heard it. Apres Moi and Blue Lips are also just pure magic. The Genius, Radio, and Samson are also songs of hers that hit you like something else

The style of this song stands out even from the other songs on the same album. Goes well with “The Trapper and the Furier” on the same album. As a socialist you’ll appreciate it and respect Regina Spektor that much more.

Didn’t know that about her. I knew she was an ex Russian, New York Jew. Didn’t know she had a stance on Isreal. There’s a lot of support for Isreal from that part of the country so I guess I’m not surprised
Retrograde by Mr James Blake. Is a very good song. The synths that kick in quite literally transfer you to another dimension when you listen to it laying down with earphones.
really interesting mixture of things. voice has a kind of unique sound to it, almost kind of thin. the synth drop is sick but i also like the underlying bass line, especially when it starts to change more quickly. overall kind of bluesy in terms of the scale but not quite.
The blues-esque sound could be from the gospel music he said he listened to somewhere in an interview! Reminds me a lot of Hozier. Oooh, I love the bass line 😍. It has this really nice descent feeling to it.
yeah that might be it i guess! yeah, especially when the synth drop happens, the bass line going down is that much more satisfying against the one synth mostly staying on the same note through that whole louder section. one voice moving a lot, one voice staying constant, gives it a great sense of contrast
The Rolling Stones - Like A Rolling Stone
It’s more the video that goes with this song really. I spent a few years living the standard rock and roll life of hanging around musicians, partying, being on the road with no care in the world, drinking, drugs, you name it. I think this video perfectly capsulates the loneliness that comes with this life. Chasing one hedonistic pleasure after another, the future can wait. There’s a certain romantic thought about the lifestyle but in my experience, the lack of meaning in that life makes it very dull eventually.
Or Rolling Stones - Let It Loose
It’s not the lyrics per se. It’s the music itself that sparks melancholic or nostalgic memories of all the people I met throughout my life. I wonder where they went, how they’re doing, what was the last time we saw, what did we do etc.
wow, the effects and content from the first video made me a little queasy lol. interesting that such strong visual content is juxtaposed with what i hear as a standard, straightforward song; kind of makes it seem like a fact of life in a bittersweet way. thanks for reminiscing with everyone

that bass line walking downward at the beginning really never gets old haha. like the piano reduction too, just all very upbeat with just enough swing to make it jazzy. what game is it from???

tingles are the best dude. like the song, lots of interesting components. that bass line is super wild, the little blips in the higher register that just happen are sick. the chromatic harmony changes in the middle keep things interesting, and the keyboard solo is fun. the whole aesthetic reminds me very much of OFF!, the old french indie game

i think i get what you mean, lots of contrasts everywhere. on the one hand the lyrics that i understand are super depressing (“bound to die alone”) haha, and whenever the guitar is present it’s so distorted and changes pitches so infrequently that it kind of overpowers everything else and has a lot of unpitched sound. at the same time, the way it’s sung, the way there’s call and response, and the way it’s kind of intimately recorded, and being in major makes it sound happy and hopeful. very interesting, thank you for sharing!!!

I like music that is deeply emotional and bittersweet.
That’d be After Dark mainly cuz it’s calming and reminds me of good times I had with irl friends, another good one would be Unshaken, which was played while I was playing a RDR2 mission that made me appreciate country music
