Contrary to western narrative, China’s native rock scene was birthed from anti-liberalism in the 80s.
Any examples? I’m curious to listen
Also Chinese heavy metal band Tang Dynasty had a badass metal cover for the Chinese version of the Internationale.
Thanks!
Cui Jian. You may start with “Rock ‘n’ Roll on the New Long March”. And his “Nothing to My Name” is a literal anti-capitalism anthem.
Thanks!
b-b-but communism banned rock music!

Socialist culture is a beautiful thing.
it really is
Because its actual culture and not just corporate bs
Marxist Beatles aren’t real
Marxist Beatles:
don’t insult socialist culture by comparing it to that crap british band
Speaking as a Chinese person…one thing I really find off about online leftist culture is the self hatred, especially towards their own ethnicity. I understand that Anglos are the source of a lot of the world’s imperalism so a joke here and there is fine but it gets too much after a while. Especially because it reminds me of the self hatred I see so often in anti-CPC Chinese liberals.
You’re right. Though honestly, I have a deep abiding hatred of the Beatles (especially John Lennon and “Imagine”) that goes beyond ideology or ethnicity.
Fair enough
My dream in my music carrer is now getting to play live in china with these heroes watching me in the background. Fuck the set list, only communist anthems are being played.
North Korean music is boppin
I’d go.
