Russia is giving IDs and clearing people of debt. Version that this will be some kind of semi-independent region now doesn’t hold up because of IDs, also Russia seems to really going to win this one also because of going through the process of giving IDs.

I don’t believe this was the plan, but since the “first phase” failed, Russia has no other option other than annexing as much of Ukraine as possible.

Honestly i think its better, russia should annex basically all of eastern ukraine but stillbleave the west part as an buffer. Ukraine economy will be on collapse after the war, the eastern part will be better on a country that doesnt suck.

Not to mention, the financially crippled and weakened western ukraine that’s left behind will probably become a sink of money for EU/US aid, further putting strain on an already economically weakening Europe.

We could have a reverse Berlin wall situation with ppl coming into the east, if Russia spends resources building up the newly annexed territories, and the west keeps throwing the only money they’re willing to give on weaponry that gets destroyed in a few weeks.

Reversed Kiev wall is something that could happen in a minor sense, it would be amazing if annexed East Ukraine was funded heavily.

Yes, Russia will annex all of east from Kiev and cut Ukraine from sea and western Ukraine will be buffer puppet state with new government of course.

Hi, could you provide sources for this and for further reading? I didn’t hear about that yet, and I’m interested.

It makes sense, Russia has lost a lot of troops in this war. They won’t just give those regions back. Ukraine might be on the verge of ceasing to exist.

The media propaganda will be absolutely insane if this happens.

Oh for sure, Ukraine is losing badly but they’ve been preparing defensive positions for the last 8 years with the help of NATO, which is why they managed to kill so many Russian soldiers.

Can’t Russia just airstrike these positions out of existence? Or is the problem that they’re in populated areas (fascists using civilians as shields, again)?

I’m not a military expert. I’m sure they’re doing what they can. But yes, the ukranazis are also fighting near civilians or outright using them as shields.
