Well if you go by ancient Greek “armed nobility decide everything while slaves work”, then weeeell…
I mean, the often used retort of USians is “It’s not a democracy, it’s a republic”. And they are kinda right about it, it’s the same thing as roman republic, meaning system which is designed to keep the power in the hands of small elite, while creating illusion of democracy and grant some crumbs for the people.
And even if the US was a democracy in the common sense of the word I don’t think it would be any less of a shithole, perhaps more even. Having a democracy without an explicit dictatorship of the proletariat gives free reign those with capital to use their wealth and resources to manipulate public opinion in their favor and eventually turn it fascist.
“Democracy, Demo meaning “people” and cracy, or Cratos, meaning power, state, country, goverment, an state ruled by the people living in it” by definition, socialism is the true democracy here.
Yes. The legislature is very much unable to pass any of these changes which polls show majority support. The reliance on the court to create these rights by discovering these rights existed in the constitution is very unusual by liberal theory and has now completely collapsed. Liberals should now realize that the liberal system has completely failed.
